Hi i am new to this forum. So please people take time to read my story and tell me of what it is that i am having..?? Il try and make it short. About 5 years ago i had my first panic attack due to my dad takrn to hospital as an emergency. He was fine after am not sure if that what trigered my anxiety. Then after that incident i was having more panick attacks. Then i had depralization. During that time i felt some other symptoms hard to swallow scared that i will choke, tingling face, stiff neck, scared of public places not as bad. Ok so now after 4 years had loads of negative thoughts feel worried when there is nothing to worry about just it comes out of nowhere. And there is one main thing About a year ago I noticed one day i got visual snow its like static tv.i didnt panick as time went it was there but soon i actually forgot about it, also i had eye floaters which where worser before then they are still here but not too much. I noticed ghosting vision now not double vision , street lights with halos star burst effect. Other then that am ok. Ive been to specsavers they said my eyes are ok so what it is that am having....
Hi Laura,
How old are you, this is a medical question?
Hi Laura,
I can only give a partial bit of help to your whole story. I've suffered with panic attacks for 8 years, got all the regular symptoms but also got the feeling there was always a lump in my throat and it made it hard to swallow or even feel like I was taking in enough oxygen. I also got the star burst effect with the lights. I have 20\20 vision so I know there isn't anything wrong with my eyes, my best guess is its fatigue taking over after a panic attack, like your eyes are tired, or that's my guess anyway, I've never given it much thought to be honest, just thought it was just another one of those things that happen.
Hope this helps
Danielle
22 am just wanting to know if people anything same.
Hey thanks for your reply well when i went to specsaavers they prescribed me with glasses. I might as well go to gp ask for medication. Have you overcome your anxiety.?
Not 100% but the meds help me get by, 1 day at a time and its so nice not having to worry about having a panic attack any more.

Well thats great really happy for you ) but have you ever had for example whenever you go somewhere fear that you forget how to come back? Sorry to ask you too much. Thanks
It's ok, ask as many questions as you like.
I sometimes have that fear, yes, especially if it's a new place, I have to concentrate on my way there so I can figure out how to get back if I need to, I focus on things I'll remember like shops, doctors surgeries or big noticeable things and it plays on my mind the whole time I'm at this place.
Funnily enough I don't get the same fear if I'm with someone else, I actually rely on them to find the way back, probably because it alleviates my anxiety about getting back, although it does come back if they forget how to get back.
I feel really panicky if I feel I cant get home and there's no one else who knows how....
Sorry about rambling on, but yes, I do get that same fear.

Ohh anxiety can cause alot! What about yout vision was it only staburst effect that you got?
I've found anxiety can cause whatever you think it can cause. It can imitate illness or injury symptoms and make you think everything under the sun is the matter with you so as a rule of thumb, never rule out anxiety as the cause of something and whatever you do, stay away from google, it will convince you that you have whatever you think you have. Safest thing you can do is go see your GP and believe them.
I used to get the starburst effect for lights and a kind of haziness when trying to watch TV, also got blurred vision when trying to read or concentrate on something. But like I said before, I knew it was either anxiety, the panic attacks or the medication side effects. Now everything has called down and the medication is fully in my system everything has returned back to normal, no more side effects, anxiety or panic attacks so I'm as good as I'm ever going to get I recon.
hi can ask what medication your doctor prescribed and did it stop palpitations ? thankyou x
Of course you can ask.
I have venlafaxine which is an antidepressant but the one you need is a beta blocker, mine is called Propranolol, it's the most used beta blocker to date, yes it does stop palpitations if taken regularly, it also lowers blood pressure and stops the physical effects of a panic attack.
You have to be careful about taking it with some conditions i.e if you have a natural low resting heart rate or have problems with your blood pressure amongst other things, check with your GP though it may be a good choice for you.
If you do get them then you have to be careful about doing too much strenuous exercise as this medication wont allow your heart rate to rise to what it needs to be to pump enough oxygen around your body to cope with the extra needs and you cant drink excessive amounts of alcohol, or just not a lot at all, I try yo stick to 1 or 2 if I decide to have a drink which is very rare now days anyway, if you exceed this amount be prepared to wake up with one hell of a hangover and feeling like crap, this feeling wont necessarily disappear in 1 day either.
obviously just read the leaflet inside the medication and I hope it helps.
thankyou my doctor did actually prescribe me them but they made my blood pressure too low ....... my doctor told me to try rescue remedy which you can buy in the chemist its herbal x
Ye I've heard good things about rescue remedy but not personally tried it.
I say try anything once to be honest, like I was really anti-drug when I first started getting panic attacks, I didn't want to go to the doctor and have pills thrown at me but it turns out medication is what I needed all along, I do feel a bit foolish because I could have stopped the panic attacks long ago but my views stopped me. I suppose one good thing is I'm now a lot more open to trying new things because you don't know what effect it will have until you try.
Let me know how the rescue remedy works and good luck x
im the same not really one for taking maedication i worry about the side effects etc ...... yes i will give it a go and let you know how it goes thankyou x
Well I hope it works for you and you're feeling better soon.
Talk soon.
