Anxiety or something else???

I’m a 45 yo male. My problems started almost a year and a half ago. I went hunting in the morning and when I got to a spot I sat down. Not long after sitting my vision started to blur and I had a feeling come over me that I was going to pass out. I went back to my truck and drove to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack because my chest started to hurt and I found it hard to breath. They chalked up as a panic attack. I was back to the ER twice after that and each time they said it was anxiety. I’ve had a full cardiac workup and nothing was found. I’ve had a hand full of doctors tell me they can’t find anything wrong. This past summer I was in the ER again while on vacation in Rhode Island. The dr there thinks it might be silent migraine. Now my general symptoms are blurred vision, congested feeling in my chest, lightheaded and sometimes sick stomach. When it gets really bad I feel like I’m 5 seconds from passing out. Any help would great because I don’t know what else to do or who to see for this. My life has turned upside down and I want my old life back.

That doesn’t sound right to me. The only symptom I have that linked to that is chest congestion. That only comes on when I get all my other symptoms.

Hi chris,

First thing I want to state is that physical symptoms don't always show up on medical tests. I want to stress that so much because I've had doctors invalidate my symptoms as manifesting as "psychological". This is wrong, no doctor should ever do that. My advice is: see specialists, find one that wants to truly listen to you, why you have this pain, what could be causing it, etc. It might be helpful to find a neurologist to get a brain scan, this could detect if you have abnormal brain functioning due to any number of things and could explain the migraines. Also, make sure to keep searching for answers and pay attention to your body, don't let someone tell you "oh you're just making all of this up in your head." It's really easy for people to pass up your health issues as psychological hypochondria because there's no existing medical evidence to prove otherwise. It's not ok for people to do this. I hope this helps even just a little.

I assume they've tested you for Lyme, since that can cause heart symptoms.  If they can't find anything else you still might want to check out Enterovirus especially if your gastrointestinal symptoms, blurred vision, and heart rhythm problems don't improve or get worse.

Yes I was tested for Lyme and it was negative. I’m not sure what test it was but from what I’ve been told that there are different tests and only one of them is 100%. Of course the insurance won’t pay for that one.   I’ve been to my ent because of sinus pressure that comes and goes. He ordered a mri of head and neck, with and without contrast. A customer of mine took the disc to a neurosurgeon and she didn’t see anything unusual. As far as specialists go , they are in my area but none of them are any good. If it’s not black and white they have no clue. I have to travel to Philadelphia or New York if I want answers but finding the right one isn’t easy. I’ll consider any suggestions if someone has had a good experience with a doctor in those areas.

I was also scoped for gerd and have been taking nexium for that. Haven’t had chest pain since.
