Hi. Is it just me or are there others like me? My anxiety kicked off againwhen I was given an antibiotic back in June for chest infection which shouldn’t be given to anyone with a history of anxiety used what I learned at CBT - helped a little & I kept pushing. Went on holidays, got a sinus infection, flight has lead to both Eustachian tubes blocked. Have tried EVERYTHING to get them to clear, 7 weeks later still blocked. Now my “Thing” is falling or worse always has been, now because of my ears I get dizzy & Anixety goes through the roof & the only place I head for is the bed!! Yesterday I was feeling off but tried to push through, went to local shop, went into shop saw a long Q & I prentended I got a call & left again, came in home felt sick etc., of course I thought I was dying, no half measures with me! Sat for a while but went to bed @5 & only got up at 8am this morning... now I’m so afraid the same will happen today, I’m trying to do stuff but It to the forefront of my mind, of course... it’s like I take one step forward & two back, does this happen to anyone else? I get so disappointed in myself. At some point during the night I was thinking my family don’t know what kind of funeral I want - but I did laugh as I remember a relation once saying “I don’t care what happens I will be dead & it will not be my problem” - lol. Am I the only person who thinks this way & every feeling, dizzy, headache, pain etc., that’s me gone... sorry for being so long winded but...
Hi
Just curious. I am a nurse but don't give advice. Was wondering who told you someone with anxiety shouldn't be given an antibiotic??? A doctor?? Do you have a diagnosis for your headaches and dizziness? Do you gave a history of anxiety disorder?
Hi. It’s not general antibiotics is one brand of antibiotics & this one one of the side effects listed said someone with a history of anxiety shouldn’t take it. I went to the Doctor & I said this, she looked on her computer & said “I’m sorry about that”! I had a missed diagnosis for an overactive thyroid a number of years ago, it took months for it to be confirmed - this was my first visit from anxiety... then it comes & goes, mostly when either the loss of a parent, friend etc., & now because of this it’s back again. I am using what I learned at CBT but I can’t get out of my head, I’d you will excuse the pun, that there’s something really wrong with my ears/head... J,
Hi Jean;
I think I have a missed diagnosis of thyroid disease. I have all the classic symptoms and my mother had it. They cannot always tell by just one blood test alone, you need the whole thyroid series but I can't get a doctor to do them. I always take 2 steps forward and 20 back. So discouraged. Want to be happy and interested in life again.
My heart goes out to anyone with Thyroid problems, it’s very scary, I didn’t know how much the thyroid controlled our bodies. OMG I do now. I’m 5ft 9 and I was down at 6 & a half stone.. don’t know how I survived. To sum it up that old saying “Doctors differ & patients die” well that was me, GP said anxiety, but after having a meltdown in his surgery I got referred to a consultant, she said I wasn’t off the the scale but I was over, next time at GP, no it’s not and on it went, it is, no it’s not between them all,I was cracking up. Then one Sunday I had a pain in my arm and pins and needles so rang and got a lovely GP who was covering the Sunday, she wrote me a letter & Off to A&E.. had lots of tests done and they took bloods, but wouldn’t have results until following am. Got results “overactive Thyroid”. From there on I was on medication which took a while to kick in what with full blown anxiety on top of everything else, but thankfully got it sorted now. Why can you not get from a doctor what you know you need, I’ve said it before, let them walk in our shoes for a day & see what it’s like they’d soon shift their backsides... mini rant, sorry. I hope you find someone as lovely & understanding as I got all those years ago.
Hi;
Doctors think a TSH tesrmt is enough to tell if you have thyroid disease, but it is not. I have an appointment with a new doctor next week and will ask for a T3 and T4. I have pins and needles in my hands and my current anxiety issues can be due to thyroid disorder. We must be advocates for ourselves and push for testing. How healthcare has changed!
