Anxiety Suddenly Gone

Hi all, I used to have really bad GAD from when I was about 12~13 until just last year that severely affected my life. Before that, I wasn't an anxious kid at all. One day last year, I experienced a panic/anxiety attack with residual symptoms lasting a few days, and after it cleared up my anxiety was completely gone. I am a curious person and am still trying to figure out the cause of this and am also terrified of it ever coming back. If anyone has experienced this or something similar, hearing about it would be appreciated.

anxiety can pop up out of nowhere and then go away. even doctors aren’t sure of why this happens. They can only say that people have underlying stresses and anxieties which produces adrenaline and causes many of the symptoms we get with anxiety. The key to helping to prevent reoccurrence is to learn how to manage anxiety so that it doesn’t progress. Many people visit a counselor for help with this. Some of the things I do are such as not taking life too seriously, remembering to do things that are enjoyable and things that make you laugh and feel at peace . when something stressful comes up in life, attitude is so important! The situation isn’t so much the problem is how we respond to it.hopefully he will not have a reoccurrence of anxiety, but even if you do remember to respond correctly to it. take care

Yes. After 30 years of anxiety on and off last year it disappeared completely and the weird thing is I can’t remember what all the fuss was about! So I was anxious, so what! Then 2 weeks ago it came back. At first I was a bit freaked out (which didn’t help) but after a few days I remembered what had helped it to go away which was… Accepting it and allowing it and letting it be. Since then, it has settled down. I wake up anxious but by the afternoon it has mostly gone. I think it helps to think that it doesn’t matter if it comes back. It’s not the anxiety that is the problem (I’ve got a tightly clenched tummy right now, so what!). The problem is the fear of having anxiety. If you can accept that it is okay to be anxious (which it is, especially these days) Then all you’ve got is a tight tummy. There is nothing wrong with you.
If you think that anxiety is some awful terrible thing (which it isn’t) which is trying to get you (which it isn’t) and that therefore there is something really terribly wrong with you (which there isn’t) then the anxiety gets worse because you make it into a big deal.
Accept it, feel it, move on and do stuff with it and it diminishes.
I find meditation really helps. Also, really important, be kind and forgiving to yourself. You’re only human.

Anxiety is a mental state just as depression is, easy comes easy goes. Well this applies to some but not everyone. People just need to confront the reason why they are anxious and fight against the negative thoughts and brush them off.
