Hey everyone! I am planning on seeing my GP soon, to talk about some issues I’ve been having lately. But I would like to know if you guys think the symptoms I’m having sound like anxiety, since that is what I think is bothering me at the moment. For the past few months I’ve been having a lot of trouble with eating anywhere outside of my home. Sometimes, when I go out to eat with friends or when I eat at a family member’s house, I will get unexplainable nausea, I start to feel very hot/flushed, my heart rate spikes and I get dizzy. When I say unexplainable, I mean that the symptoms are not caused by me being sick, eating something undercooked, eating too much, etc. Sometimes the feelings come after finishing a big meal, sometimes the feelings come after two bites. Whenever these symptoms happen I try to breathe through it, but 9/10 times when these symptoms kick in, I can no longer eat a single bite. The symptoms can be so bad that I need to get up and go to the bathroom, but I have never actually vomited after feeling this overwhelming nausea. I’ve had to cut dinners short because the only thing I could think of is that I needed to get to my car and go home. Whenever I do get to my car/home, the symptoms disappear as quickly as they begin. I never get these symptoms at home. Not even on days where I eat tons of junk food or have really big meals. I have had an episode in the gym once, after I had a meal at home before going to work out. I have always been told that anxiety can often be traced back to a negative experience regarding the trigger, which I did have last August. I got food poisoning in a restaurant and had to travel on public transport with a friend I didn’t know very well, which was a horrible experience to say the least. Before this situation I didn’t really experience these symptoms, but they have gotten considerable worse and more frequent over December/January. Could it be that I have developed anxiety due to the negative experience I had last august? Does it sound like typical anxiety to you? Thanks!
Yes i would say its just anxiety for sure. I get moments like this too, when i have to eat out i get sick to my stomach. Its not every time but its still frustrating. I also get it from the other end when i have to do things like see a dr im not familiar with and when we travel on a plane. Anxiety is just awful ![]()
