I’m 17 & I’m a male. I been an athlete all my life & just a healthy young person, stress free, blessed. Now I remember one time back in 6 grade I had this panic attach watching a football game & that was first time having that. Now fastward 2017 in March I get this panic attack & for no reason I remember playing the game but I always do. So I went to the doc everything was fine just a panic attack so. A week pass & im getting like these strange symptoms ( headaches, body aches, shaking, etc.) I got back to the doctor in June they said that it was nothing & that I have anxiety I should see a therapist I said no. So weeks go by & im feeling shortness of breath, not feeling real, headaches, dizziness, chest pain, heart palpitations, numbness, muscle loss, loss of appetite) I just feeling like I’m going down & I feel like I got health issues now. I haven’t been to the doctor since November of last year & I supposed to go to the cardiologist on the 24th on Jan. Because the chest pain got worse, I lost a lot of muscle, I feel drained, my head feels light, I get shortness of breath from time to time, get dizzy sometimes & everything just don’t seem real & so I want to know if anyone been through what I’m going though or is anybody going through the same thing. Is it just aniexty 😭😭 I feel like I’m alone with feeling this way 😩.
No you are not on your own. It is important to rule out the possible physical reasons for your signs and symptoms first before making a diagnosis of anxiety so I do not blame you for refusing to see a therapist.
I was wondering if you actually saw the cardiologist and what tests he ordered.
Take care
hi again. Sorry just noticed you see the cardiologist on January 24. It ios important that you keep this appointment and learn some more. Take care.
Am I gone be okay?
I had the same symptoms having chronic stress but they started in the age of 30 not 17.
I was an athlete too at your age, I also pushed myself all the way to 30 which then i had a death in my family and chronic stress has started..
since you don't describe any strong reason, as I did with the death of a family member, I don't believe you have stress or anxiety related issues, also you are an athlete - that's the best thing you can do to kill axniety, although, the more you think of your symptoms the more anxiety you will get over time...
I believe you should see a cardiologist just to rule out everything.
If, that's a strong IF, you are diagnosed with anxiety, don't be afraid to go to a therapist. There is a huge difference between psychiatric therapist and psychology therapist, your therapist should be a psychologist..
I started to have a lot of headaches for months, so I went to a neurologist. Not knowing at the time, a neurologist is also a psychology therapist, she diagnosed my headaches to be stress/anxiety related. She proposed to me to get anxiety meds and I replied with a big "NO" the exactly same way you replied "no" for the therapist. My headaches got worse for another month, and then panic attacks started.. I went back to the neurologist/pshychologist and asked for those meds, I got them...on the first day, on the first pill....my life came back to normal and calm... I took them for about 2 months and then stopped, no issues after that... I am perfectly fine now... so don't be afraid of a therapist
I agree with andalina's comments.
You will be alright. The dr is trying to exclude every/any possibilities.
Be heartened that things are going to be sorted out. No pun intended.
Cardiologists are used to these situations and you will feel greatly assured by seeing him/her.
Take care
