Anxiety?

Add a new symptom to my ever growing list. Last night I awoke in the middle of the night with horrible heartburn and what felt like a bubble in my throat my heart was racing and had a bit of a sweat. I took some Galvescon which helped a bit but didn't go away al together. After a while I got back asleep but I really thought this was the end. Has anyone else experienced this? I was pretty shake and still uneasy in the morning.  Not sure if I should go to my gp  or if this is part of the anxiety burden we carry.

are u on any meds for anxiety?

Im not on any but. I was considering asking my gp for some ativan for when symptoms get bad. I don't normally get heartburn which is why I was so scared.

I get heartburn and indigestion in the middle of the night I feel like I am dying. The chest pains are unbearable. I feel your concern. The heartburn meds don't help. Doc says it is all related to my anxiety as well.

my doc will not give out benzos as they are addictive + after a while they do not work

There is no doubt benzos are addictive and after a while you need more to get the same effect, however they are also very beneficial and each case/patient should be dealt with on their merits.

I don't know your circumstances or conditions so can only tell you my experience re diazepam.

I have an addictive personality and was a drinker so my Dr would be totally right not to prescribe them to me HOWEVER he knows me, he has treated me for anxiety episodes in the past and has prescribed diazepam previously, I've stopped drinking and I'm totally aware of the dangers and only take one when I know I need to as a result he prescribed a small amount (2 weeks supply where I could take 3 x 5mg per day) I've had a supply for 5 weeks and taken 17 in that time and mostly broken in two so I take 2.5mg first and then the other half if needed. I emailed my GP last week to appraise him of how many I'd taken  and if he had concerns to phone me or if not discuss at my next appointment (tomorrow).

My average is 3-4 per week and that's a small dose.

Your GP should refer to NICE Guidelines so if you would like to have a small supply go to NICE website, gen up and go back to your GP for another discussion perhaps?

I also have an addictive personality and worry about addiction. However I have to lead 26 teenagers to new York in 2 weeks and really worried about attacks while away. I think I would like to have something with in case. Did you have any major side effects with diazepam
