Can anxiety really cause chest to be so tight it's difficult to get a proper breath?
Hi Moira, it certainly can, it's one of the more common anxiety symptoms amongst many others so don't be too alarmed, just take some deep breaths into your stomach and slowly release through pursed lips do this for a few minutes and your breathing should ease up. Neil
I try this but find it hard. I've had this on and off for years but finding it it is more or less persistent now. Could it be that my body has got into the habit of not breathing properly
Hi Moira, no your body won't have got into the habit of not breathing properly, it's an anxiety issue, may be Ho and see your GP about getting some anxiety management and relaxation classes. There are also p,entry guided relaxation meditations on YouTube you could try, there are loads to choose from, would be worth a try? Neil
I'll give it a go. I also find I'm very aware of my breathing and am always checking my pulse. It's not a pleasant feeling
