is it possible for it to be anxiety when u have a lump type feeling in ur throat when u eat u feel like its stuck cus ive gt this bad feel like my throat swells from time to time an i av to be sick after food all the time to relieve the feeling π’
I have dealt with anxiety for a long time and I feel like I have dealt with all the symptoms at one time or another. This certainly sounds like something anxiety throws at you. It has a bunch of different symptoms that are concerning to us but tend to come and go as your mind and body relax. The more concerned and worried that we become, the more we feed it and the symptom becomes more powerful. If you have any questions about a symptom, go to a doctor and reassure yourself that it's just anxiety.
Hi emzie:
I know it's to feel as tho you have a lump in your throat from anxiety and sometimes that makes it difficult to swallow. I've had anxiety and panic disorder for over 30 years and many times, I've had to try to hack up something that seemed to be stuck in my throat. My throat doesn't swell and I don't feel sick after eating.
I'm not sure what you mean by being sick after food all the time. Can you tell us more about this? Is it certain food or all food that causes this problem. I know that is I eat food that is rather try, I'll get a choking feeling and have to drink a lot of fluid to get what I think is stuck down into my stomach. I have a terrible time with large pills.
I'd like to offer suggestions but I'm not sure what your feeling sick is all about? Please explain.
i mean i feel like food is stuck n because of this i av to stick my fingers dwn my throat to be sick its just hw u described it to a tee spot on but im worried ive ad this 6months nw constantly π im loosin weight n it generally piddles me off
Yes this is "typical" for anxiety and called Globus
It can be worsened by eating, drinking, taking omeprazole or ranitidine too often, or most commonly, GERD (acid reflux).
It can come and go, stay for a while, you name it.
i just hope its not dysphagia cus thts serious an as the same symptoms ive gt a camera the 25th sept ill know then im scared because my cousin died of esophogus cancer i feel like ive gt a constant sore throat tooβΉ not looking too good for me is it π’π’
I do not know how old you are and if you have been diagnosed by your GP. Make an appointment to see your GP and explain your fears.
Depending on how long you have had this problem, take advice from the NHS Information Line on Tel 111
You could also look on the NHS CHOICES Internet pages, Under the problem and you will get an explanation for your concern.
If you know it is Anxiety, and it has been seen by your GP, You can use Self Help Methods, a hot lemon and honey mixed will ease the throat.
If it does not clear, see your GP

If you have Anxiety or not and you are loosing weight I would advise you go make an appointment with your GP. and have this lump checked. The sickness and lump with unable to swallow needs looking into.
I would be asking for an appointment ASAP

Actually it's looking pretty okay
I went to my PCP complaingin about difficulty swallowing and globus sensation, convinced it was dysphagia from something neurological like ALS. He ordered me a barium swallow and it turns out i'm completely fine! The results came back normal and the only thing noted was GERD, or chronic heartburn, which I already knew I had.
Hope this puts some of your fear to rest.
i am so hoping i gt the same result im petrified of having a dysperia or however u spell it as urs cleared nw ive oni had this since all this started in april with bad sinuses ive gt a post nasal drip tht im awaiting surgery for
Hi there, it's a classic anxiety symptom, basically you sleep we down or stop the production of saliva when anxious as the body feels it doesn't need to eat when in the anxiety state which in turn makes it difficult to swallow abd feel like food is stuck in the throat (which it isn't), don't worry about it it's perfectly normal and cannot harm you.
