Hi there Danielle🙂I feel for you right now oh yes this could all be anxiety at its finest and it it’s cruelest!,You have not got asthma and that’s good.

You say  your breathing is off and wrong an you need to catch your breath. This  is when your anxiety is making your heart beat faster therefore your breathing more.It happens to me when My anxiety is heightened  my heart races start to shake I sweat and I also have terrible time breathing.

I cannot suggest the GP for you that is  what I would do in most cases because you say not too...

all I can say  when it’s reallytry and concentrate on your breathing ,breathe longer out than in and try and concentrate on that for five mins see if it subsides.

if you’ve had this cough for more than 6 weeks it would be advisable to see a dr I’m sure you know this, also do you smoke im sure you would ld have said.

you are not on your own there is many people that suffer as you do and I.

i have exactly the same.

just watch the cough hey remember it’s that time of year when bugs and coughs are about.

take it as it comes and concentrate on your breathing try to take control over it, give it time I do this and it does help. Just in the moment try to do it.

Are you on medication at all? Sounds like you are not, so you are trying to cope on your own. It’s horrible when it’s your breathing I know hopefully you will have people answer you with some self help thing to do.

take care your not on your own

Hi Danielle,

I am dealing with cough issues myself. It all began a few months ago. One day I felt like my I had a lump in my throat. It lasted for days. I read online that this is a common symptom of anxiety. However, I had myself convinced the issue was due to thyroid cancer. I avoided checking the internet as much as possible, but at some point I stumbled across an article that said another symptom of cancer was a cough with no explained cause. Suddenly, I have a cough! My husband assures me I have had a cough like this for years and it only became worse when I read this article. It has been two months and I STILL am having this stupid cough. I went to the doctor when I felt like I had a lump stuck in my throat. We checked my thyroid and did blood work. The doctor felt all over my neck and had me swallow. She felt nothing and the blood work came back clear. The lump has come and gone since that time and it is mostly not there any longer. Not for the cough. I notice it now more than ever.

I have tried not to google things any longer. I don't have any other symptoms. I am going to the doctor again in a few weeks to get my meds checked and I will be talking to her at that time about this cough. I just can't keep going like this. I am worried all the time, but I am also TERRIFIED to see the doctor. The last few times I have gone my blood pressure has been through the roof.

I say all of this because I am exactly where you are. I talked to my sister tonight and she mentioned that this cough could be a tic I have developed. I went and researched, and wouldn't you know, she is absolutely right. There are other things that can cause you to have the cough, like reflux. You said you don't have asthma, so you know that is not the cause. If you are struggling to breathe normally as well, this could be causing you to cough. Try to relax and do some breathing exercises. This should help you calm down and the cough should subside. At the end of the day though, if this doesn't stop, you might need to find the money to run to the GP. They can provide you with the reassurances that you are well and this too shall pass!

I hope this helps you some. I know reading your message helped me so I could see someone else is dealing with my issue as well. Best wishes!
