Hi since about a month now I've been experiencing really dizzy spells continuously, light-headed, feeling as though am not in my own body and a tingling sensation in-between my shoulder blades. I've been to the drs numerous times, and all they say is it's vertigo. Am getting absolutely nowhere. I feel as though am losing my mind. Everyday tasks are so hard. But when I get the really bad dizzy spells, it feels as though, that's it am going to die. Can anyone help x
Hi I started with this nearly four years ago. Are you taking any medication at all or were taking any preceding these signs and symptoms?
Antibiotics , valium in a minute dose and codeine have been blamed by several consultants for causing similar signs and symptoms in myself.
Has your blood pressure been checked?
Any blood tests done? Sorry to ask questions just trying to help.
I have vertigo and it's a bit like being drunk. Very dizzy. It dies make you feel awful. Nauseating too. Are you 100% certain it's vertigo??
Hi again
Just like to mention that the dizziness did go and also the light headedness and nausea. It was anxiety caused thru medication though. Info on whether you were taking any medications prescribed or otherwise would be helpful.
Thanks for the response. All am getting from the drs is that's it's vertigo. They don't really listen to anything I say. All I've been given medication wise is serc 16 mg. But it's not really helping. My blood pressure and everything else is fine. Am going back to drs tomorrow because am fed up. Feeling dizzy, light-headed, feeling like am not here and like am going to faint all the time is getting too much xx
That's what the Dr says but am not 100% it's vertigo x
It dies sound more like anxiety. I would get a second opinion
Hi
What is serc ?
Is it sertraline?
Vertigo is a sign and symptom and must be investigated.
Has anyone examined your ears or done a neurological examination?
Certain drugs can cause this , it sounds like depersonalisation which is part of anxiety usually now known to be caused by opiates such as mo0rphine, codeine, and also benzos .
10 days after stopping codeine prescribed for back pain my sideeffects startyed to disappear.
Withdrawal was not easy but better than feeling permanently light headed, daily migraines, dry eye syndrome, severe depression and anxiety, insomnia, anorexia, muscular pains, throbbing eyes, complete demotivation etc, etc.

I'm not a Dr.; however, I worked with a woman who had Meniere's Disease, which my wife also has. You are describing their symptoms almost exactly. The woman I worked with, I'll call her Peggy, had it very bad and helped our Doctor and my wife finally diagnose it. Peggy's specific symptoms were extreme and occasional dizziness, sometimes so bad that she stated she had to crawl from bed to bathroom, a ringing and sometimes roaring in the ear, a spinning sensation which can stop and start again, a sometimes loss of hearing and a feeling that your inner ear is full of something. She told me once when the attacks were severe she felt sure she was going to die. She left our company because of the problems. The episodes can occur frequently or sometimes years apart. My wife does not have it as bad as Peggy, and, she hasn't had an episode for nearly a year. Causes can be a medication (if you are allergic to it, especially), lack of proper fluid drainage from the ear, nose throat, an infection, head trauma or migraines. My wife's doctor says there is no cure but he has tried motion sickness and nausea medication. They help a little but surprisingly, when he asked her to cut out salt, I think that actually helped most. It could be worthwhile to ask your doctor about Meniere's Disease. It's pronouced Men-eers.
Aww bless her. It does sound similar. Thank you for this. I'll have a look into it and mention it to the Dr tomorrow 😊
Am not on any medication apart from serc 16 mg for the dizziness.
They've done a general check on my ears but nothing else. Hopefully they'll look into it furtherx
No it's a medication to help dizziness, but it's not working very well x
There is also a condition called Eustachian tube dysfunction.
This is quite painful as most ear conditions seem to be!!!
Take care.
Thank you x
Return to your GP surgery if not happy there are treatments they could try including checking yor ears
BOB
Hi again
I have just been researching Serc and there are negative reviews I am afraid.
There are other drugs though that may help according to what I have read so ....
Perhaps your GP may refer you to an ENT specialist?
I would get back to your GP and keep him updated .
