Anxiety

I've had a real blip today, I've been on fluoxetine for years on and off this time I've been off them since Feb18, I've felt great but over the last 3 weeks I've not been good, slowly everyone and everything has been getting at me (in my head) plus I am over thinking and worrying and stressing over tiny little things and things that happen years and years ago... so what is this anxiety depression??? I 've been referred for counselling should I go back on meds

Hi,

This feels just like me. I've been on Fluoxitine since 2004. I came off them 6/8 weeks ago and it's all going wrong.

I suffer really badly with health anxiety and have been having problems with my throat for the past 2 weeks. A lump feeling, voice going crackly. It's a nightmare. Been to doctors 3 times, in a week, looked at my throat nothing wrong. If I was you, just try and battle through it, you've done so well doing 6 months of them. Well done you.

Hi Law78,

I too, have been on fluoxetine for several years.  2 1/2 years ago I slowly weened myself off and was great for 4 months, then slowly the anxiety and even some depression which I never really experienced before crept back in.  It was a difficult time for me.

After visiting my PCP we concluded that I needed to continue with my meds.  Like diabetes, some people just need the stability the medication brings.  So I am back on it once again and have been back to my usual self.  Still have times of health anxiety, but that is just part of who I am.  Just thought I would share my experience with you.  Linda

Law78, Is that fluvoxamine? I was prescribed this medication a number of years ago for obsessive thoughts, coupled with anxiety. I understand the thinking and worrying over tiny little things that happened years ago. You said that this has been over the last three weeks. What has happened over that time do you think to cause you not to feel good. I come and go in mood swings/anxiety as well. I will have several days where nothing makes sense and I am on edge over the slightest thing. I went to counseling on and off for years. If you have a good counselor, they will be able to diagram your family history, thinking patterns, etc. I haven't seen her for a year, but have thought of making an appointment. Take care.

Hi Sorry to hear this. May I ask if you tapered off the fluoxetine slowly?

Hi Masy I ask what the plan is when the medication becomes ineffective as they often do.
