Anxiety

hello- i have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder after a series of health issues back in february that have since resolved and were more so related to anxiety but thought it was something else. with this anxiety i experience hypersensitive esophageal which means always feels like something is stuck in the back of my throat and sometimes i can feel what i think are spasms. the most newest sensation is as if my esophagus feels strained.. i sometimes suffer from sore throat from tension i cause and the muscles behind my ears tense up causing pain. i do believe some of my sore throat could be a combination of regular seasonal allergies with drainage from post nasal drip that irritates my throat and acid reflux.. I was just wondering if anyone else’s is experiencing these symptoms with anxiety and if their anxiety manifests with physical symptoms similar .. also sometimes i feel throat tightening. fyi- i have had 2 endoscopes one with an endoscopic ultrasound and a mri of abdomen with mrcp looking closely at pancreas, gallbladder and liver all have came back normal and a plethora of blood work which have also been normal.

I used to experience something similar. When I would get anxiety I felt like I couldn’t swallow…like there was something stuck in my throat. It would scare me and make everything worse, then I really felt like I couldn’t breathe or swallow. Dr said it was acid reflux…did not even give me five minutes of his time to assess me. I had to learn to cope by myself. It helps to take a moment and take a few deep breaths… focus on your breathing techniques to divert attention away from your throat.

Thank you for the advice.. i do try to breathe through it currently i try to relax my muscles as i feel like that muscle tension is causing more issues with things. i will try to focus more on breathing to divert.

Anxiety can definitely give you those symptoms, happens to me every once in a while, its certainly not an pleasant feeling, but keep in mind is just your mind playing tricks. Try ( and i know its hard) not to pay too much attention to it. Otherwise try to see a psychologist or psychiatrist to give you some pills for your anxiety. Anxiety definitely sucks but it can be controlled and managed.
