Hi all,
I did my hemorrhoidectomy surgery on the 19th of August due to a thrombosed external hemorrhoid so it will be slightly over month today since the operation.
The first 2 weeks was some of the most painful ordeal of my life, with bowel movement akin to go to a battlefield, and this is coming from an endurance marathon runner that frequently succumbs himself to wanton pain and extreme conditions just for ‘kicks’. (i ran a full 42.195km in Norway in near freezing temperature with nothing but a singlet and shorts).
Although the pain has mostly subsided, there’s still some sticky discharge everyday plus the ‘tightness’ and ‘itchiness’ on the anal area even now that makes me uncomfortable even when sitting down. As such, i have not been doing any of my training runs for fear of tearing the supposedly healing wounds and making things worse again.
My question is thing, is the sticky discharge normal, even at week 5? On average, how long till everything’s over?
Any athletes and runners here with similar experiences? How long from the surgery that you are comfortable of going back to your training regime?
Any advise and insights are welcomed.
