Any new treatments?

Newly diagnosed with belpharitis, and nothing seems to help. Have tried compresses, lid scrubs, artifical tears, Prednisolone. Has not been relief. Those are what doctors have suggested. What do you do if those things aren't enough?

I just posted about tea trea oil. Mix baby shampoo (a few drops) with a few drops of tea trea and add water. Use a cotton bud and wipe the eye area and lash line twice daily.

Anti histamines also help me

Albert, what is Prednisolone??? excuse my ignorence...I find the docs very flipant about the Bleph, its a case of its no big deal. Well it is if youre living with it, and as a woman its a killer not being able to wear eye makeup...Someone suggested goin to a Dermatologist about it, Im contemplating.....

Prednisone is a steroid to help with inflammation, it comes in tablet form and eye drops, to be honest it doesn't do much to help with bleph I've had both and it done notjing for inflammation.. the reason doctors are flippant about bleph is because they know as much as me and you about it.. they have never been trained, so don't waste your money going to see one unless it's for prescriptions.

OK Andy. obviously very little research done on the condition. Theres some family of antibiotics are supposed to help with it, Doxy or something ressembling that, but yet again works for some but not for others...Doesent desperation set in after a while,....I really am sick of it....

Yeah I been taking doxy for as long as I can remember, don't know if its helping or not but I don't want to stop just incase my symptoms get worse.. a s the doxy doesn't start to be effective until about 3 months of use.

I go back tomorrow, im sick of it too. Things arent much fun right now. I had anxiety before, now Ive really got it. Seasonal alergies didnt really used to bother my eyes. Well they do now. Dont know what to take for that as Im scared it will dry out my eyes worse. Ive tryed some compresses, they make my vision hazy for awhile, otherwise i get blurred vision. Havnt experimented enough with drops yet. Only have tryed refresh tears and refresh optive. They havnt helped much. Have been taking fish oil about a month. I suppose tomorrow she will bring up doxcyciline, probably next. What a fun spring so far. I dont do much.

Hi Lee....understand what ye mean, I feel like my life as I once knew it, has ended and Im leadn this new life with plenty of limitations. My social life is virtually non existent since January cos Im petrified of discomoding my eyes by being in an unsuitable environment or whatever. All we can do is hang on to hope, that we will defy whats said about our conditions and overcome them.

Hi there. Im layng here in bed,i just know i wont sleep caus of docs tomorrow. I know what you mean. Im limiting where I go and what I do,Im going to have to try doing more as Im missing out on life alot. But this is knew and i get nervous. Have you ever tryed the doxcyciline? Ive read some hopeful comments other people have made about it helping. I might give it a try if offered. I read on the net that theyve found the lower doses. 20 mg x 2 a day to be just as effective without many side affects.

Hi Lee, fully understand what ye mean, I work and I can tell ye I wish I didnt have to cos some days its very hard going. I also suffer with bouts of insomnia which aggrivates any eye condition. Who normally prescribes doxycycilline? is it GP or Ophtamologist? cos Id try anything at this point...Its hard to motivate yourself to socialise when you are in pain both physically and mentally, I know there are people out there with worse stuff but still we are fighting a hard battle in its own context...

Id go to an optomotrist or opthamologist. Here in the States they both are qualified. If I do try it,I will go on the lowest effective dose first. I also have invested in prescription Polaroid sunglasses. Wrap around sunglasses would be great to shield from wind, dust etc. Im thinkin lol,but i better shut my eyes if im going to the eye doc. Good night frim the U.S.

OK, Lee. Will ask Opthamologist, back with him later this month...I have wrap-round polaroid sunglasses that I picked up in Boots, helps with the dreaded "glare" that suddenly developed alongside this chronic dry eye and bleph...I used love the sunshine but dread seeing it now...Nite nite, have a good rest....
