My daughter has been attending the hip clinic every 6 months and had xrays but now we got an appointment for the elective clinic for September and I'm not sure what to expect. Google hasn't been much help and I'm wrecking my head trying to think what they will do.. anyone had the same??
Anyone see this post? Im new to all this
I see it! I'm new too haha. Unfortunately I can't be of help to you, sorry. I have hip/groin problems of my own (not hip displasia) and have turned to this site for answers. I hope you can find the help and support you need!
Hi Clair 0712. My daughter who is 31 is having to have an operation. She has hip dysplacia. I am assuming that your daughter is younger. It must be one of those uncommon operations, seeing as no-one has posted anything. lol Hopefully you can get some answers. I have got some answers. The best person to talk to is the orthopedic surgeon. Good luck.
Hi Claire 0712, my daughter was born with a 'slight click' in her hip, we was referred for ultra sound scans when she was 6 weeks old and it turned out that her hip was actually 80% dislocated! She was in a hip harness for 12 weeks then we was told that treatment had worked and gone to plan, 10 months later we went to the hospital for a check up X-ray when they discovered her socket is very shallow which means she will need further treatment (most possibly a operation) where they will take away part of the bone and put in a metal place and screw! 😩 We have a appointment in 2 weeks to speak with a specialist surgeon to see what they are going to do, I'm dreading it already, I just want my baby girl to be better and it all to be over with! Has your daughter had any treatment before? It's a awful feeling not knowing what's going to happen, I've felt this everytime we have attended and appointment! Xx
Hi Claire i had a new hip put in when i was in my 30s, i was born with hip displasia and when i got my surgery the bone grew around my new hip and now its more frozen, ask alot of questions, make sure they no what there doing cause were special cases we was born like this, hip is different I think they should of modified a little and studied my hip more now, no one really wants to fix my hip lots of bleeding infection on and on they say its a big operation hopefully one day, just keep up and day by day.
I was born with it! Instantly I was in a brace and casts with my first surgery being before I was six months old. The whole story is kind of long so here's the link: https://formingthepearl.home.blog/2018/08/13/not-disabled-uniquely-abled/
I am praying you guys will find great doctors and that your daughter's case won't be severe.
