Any positives of HRT?

Hi I am 42 and in Dec started with anxiety. May periods were also becoming irregular. Doc did hormone tests and I'm apparently perimenopausal.

Started on Citalopram, been on 3months, various doses, currently at 40mg. Side effects have settled and now feel the sweats, tiredness etc are hormonal.

If wondering if HRT will be beneficial.

Apart from the health pros / cons can anyone give me some advice on things like how long to see benefits, any side effects.

I don't really know anyone who has experience of HRT without all the negatives.

This is the very difficult stage, perimenopause.  The reason is that your hormones are bouncing wildly.  That makes it very difficult to provide what you need, as some days it's too much, others it's to little.  This is why doctors often suggest a BCP in perimenopause, because it shuts off your natural production and takes over.  Some women do well on this, other's not so much.  I was a not so much women, bloating badly.  But all pills are different in content, and sometimes it's about finding a good fit for your system.

I did try HRT in perimeno, as well as BCP.  I did better just taking care of myself and going with my own production.  Every woman is different.

Good luck!

I have a sster that developed breast cancer on hrt best way to go is natural .that's just my opinion I'll deal with hot flashes ect.. Over the risks good luck

Sorry to hear that scooby.

The information I have looked at suggests that under the age of 51 the risks of breast cancer are the same as a woman not taking HRT.

Car you're tells me your experience and how you dealers with symptoms? 😀
