Any suggestions stop mirtazapine nightmares and bizarre vivid dreams?

have been on 45mg mirtazapine almost six years.worked great for severe depression with agitation, but suffering the most awful nightmares, and bizarre vivid dreams, almost nightly, feel so real.

has anyone found solution to this? Or has anyone tried taking their mirtazapine dose in morning instead of night, and did that work? to stop the nightmares

Hi Chrisy,

Yeah I had that experience when on and coming off the drug.

I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it. Would love to hear if anyone has found a solution!

I'm not a doctor but wouldn't recommend taking Mirt in the morning due to the sedative effect. It was lights out for me once taking the tablet!

Wish you well!

Graeme

Hi Chrisy, when you wake from nitemare go to bath, look in mirror and assure yourslf that "it is not real". Do a grounding technique, site, sound, hear, touch, taste, etc, deep breaths, water on face, go back to bed. Getting un a routine of that helped me shake the " scared sh*t outta my mind" feeling. Then I had to do less frequently. Bless you
