I just had a thought and was wondering if anyone had had anything similar. When I had my endoscopy a strange lump was discovered right on my sphincter. The consultant didn't think it was much to worry about (cancer-wise, I guess he meant). He couldn't do any tests on it as he was worried it might be a blood vessel so i'm now waiting to have some sort of ultra sound on it to check whether it is a blood vessel and whether they can do a biopsy on it. My thought was, I wonder if this lump (it was a 5mm \"fold\" could be preventing my sphincter closing properly? Whatever it is this lump is definitely causing problems as it is actually starting to hurt now.
Wow, I hadn't thought of that! Well they didn't seemed that concerned. My GP said most probably it will turn out to be a blood vessel and they won't take it any further. He said that would be the best result. He did say there is a chance it is an ulcer caused by the acid which I was quite enthusiastic about as I thought it meant there was a tangible problem that could then be resolved but apparently that would not be the case and it could make things quite complicated. Oh, he also doesn't think it would cause a problem with the osg junction. He said to just keep on with the ppi as i've only been on it a month and these things take time. So here's hoping it's a blood vessel and of course that it doesn't burst!
It does sound like this blood vessel is being pinched between some bundles of muscle (very much like bum piles) :? Anyway lets not go there, good luck :D
