Any Tips on Controlling HVS Type 2

Hi I'm currently on my first outbreak, I originally started with 1 small blister, which has some what formed into 3, the first one is trying to heal from what I can see whereas the other 2 are newly forming.

Is there any home remedies or tips/tricks I can do to prevent the itching, the pain and also the blisters themselves.

My doctor subscribed me APO-FLAMCICLOVIR TAB 250MG x20

I took 1 the night I picked them up and have so far taken 7 Tablets.

What's the usual period that it takes for the tablets to properly take effect and removed the blisters, also how long will the first outbreak last?

Will these tablets I've been subscribed actually help? if not then what can I ask the doctor to subscribe me too?

Are there any over the counter supplements or creams/tablets which I don't need a subscription for?

I just need some tips and tricks on what I can do or take to help this outbreak finish it's course as quickly as possible and as quietly as possible (less itching/pain)

My tablets cost me $51.00 AU which is ridicously priced for some tablets, so are there any good medications that area cheaper or more effective method?

Thanks Sam,

I used Epsom salt in a tub of warm water. It's supposed to help sooth you and help the sores dry up faster. Soak for about 20 min. When you go to dry yourself, use a blow dryer on a cool setting. You can probably use hydrocortisone (itching relief cream) or desitin (baby rash cream) to help relieve you of the itching and some pain but ur supposed to let them dry up so using them may not be the best if you're trying to heal faster. It took me exactly a week to heal from the sores and pain. The doctor put me on valtrex and it worked tremendously.

I have been putting bepanthen on them as a quick itch releaf and it does work, I figured an antiseptic wouldn't harm if anything do good.

But I keep see people saying they need to dry out.

So maybe that isn't a good idea.

I'll try from now on bare the itch and pain and hope it dries fast and goes away quicker.

Any other tips from you or others are greatly welcome!

Thanks,

I did a post - I think I wrote it yesterday - in reply to someone; maybe it hasn't been approved by the powers-that-be...? but in there I put all the suggestions given by people on this forum.e.g. ice packs, pineapple, L-Lysine, etc. Hopefully it will be posted.
