im fourteen years old and i a few weeks ago i was told that i have chondromalacia patellae. im fed up of having this knee thing. im usually very sporty (road racing and cross country) yet this is really affecting my sports and daily movement in my legs its constant pain !
my dad is sixty odd now and still suffers from knee problems from when he was my age. he isnt into doctors, tablets and all that so he never got his checked out - but i got mine checked out as its really painful. he says ignore it but i cant!
so i was wondering if anybody had any tips on at least soothing the knee for a little bit or somthing? or any stretches or something??
Hi, I find keeping my legs raised helps, and if I feel the pain getting worse, a warm water bottle laid over the top does wonders for me. If you twist awkwardly though and get shooting pain as well then ice packs help. I'd go between the two see which helps you. The new heat pads on the market are useful as youcan wear them during the day and get on with eveyday things. As for sport keep doing what you can, for me swimming is the most comfortable as the legs are supported so take the pressure off the knees.

I had it now for a year and done PT didnt help too much and resting it was not realy an option being in the military but i have ben taking Celbrex for inflamation and Tramadol for the pain and its working okay i also had a series of injections into my knee i cant remeber the name of the injection it was eithire Hyalgan or Synvisc. It helped for about 8 months now its back big time but i was running on an eliptical and walking no problem i even got through a 2 week high intensity combat course running and jumping and kneeling with body armor on with not too much pain
