hi all ive been on fluoxetine for 13 days now and im going through horrible side effects. i keep panicking thinking my side effects could be corona. the tight chest, breathing and hot and cold flushes. i also have a dry mouth which causes me to think i have a cough and i find myself coughing. ive had headaches and i feel so weak. anybody else starting them during this period?
I take 5 HTP which works slower but because it’s natural there really are no side effects. last time I tried any anti depressants, I was so weak I couldn’t even hold phone to my ear. Some people are more sensitive then others.
i dont think its corona, you would have a fever and it would spike to 100 in a matter of hours. you could always get tested for corona and then rule it out completely and knowing would put your mind at ease. i would say its anxiety though. i have had similiar problems this past few weeks and in the past. i am medicated. it took several tries to find the right meds for me. the fluoxetine may not be the right drug for your body, or the dosage may not be right. i take several meds, lexapro for anxiety/depression, latuda for my mood, vyvance for my ADHD and xanex for use as a crutch when and if all else fails and i have a panic attack. it eases you in about 15 minutes putting you in a calm state. these anti anxiety drugs take about two weeks before they start to work. so its possible you are just having an anxiety attack because the fluoxetine has not been in your system long enough to be effective. i would suggest you ask your doctor for a benzo (xanex, adavan, kolonopin, etc.) to use until your fluoxetine has time to kick in and work like its supposed to.
i having acid reflux but on xanax for a few days now. Less on cough and more on dyspnea due to reflux.

yeah, i have started again taking AD and i am on my 9 day on poraxtine. i do have dry mouth and high anxiety, but those are known as side effect.
it is hard but we need to cope
david i have been in fluox twice before so i know it works, i did try citalopram and also pregabalin and the side effects were so bad. its hard because i have health anxiety as it is and whilst these stabilise its making me constantly question corona. its an awful time for us anxiety sufferers. i do have valium for really bad days too
so hard.
Hi,I was thinking about goin to my GP to try and get something to help with anxiety attacks, crying non-stop etc,but over 23years ive tried loads of anti-depressants I’ve never felt any change. To be honest my neurologist has given me some clonazepam,to take at night, for something else that’s going on,and once they kick in I’m chilled for a bit
its a hard time for everybody. the only thing i inow works for me is fluoxetine
just because fluox worked once doesnt necessarily mean it will work a second time. i learned this the hard way. went off meds for two years, was taking effexor when i went off the meds, two years later, tried to go back on effexor again but it didnt work and had to switch to lexapro. overtime the body builds up immunity to certain meds. so either your floux isnt working, the dosage is too low, or you havent waited long enough for it to be in your system to be effective. you could always ask your doctor for the corona test, a simple nasal swab. rule corona out for sure and then go from there? its worth a shot, right?
its definately not long enough for any positivr effects its 13 days. fluox can take 4-8 weeks sometimes longer for benefits. i dont think our doctors are doing that? im in the uk dont know aboht you ans even healthcare workers arent getting tested sometimes
i thought the corona tests were pretty much all the same through the world? i mean i could be wrong, nasal swab seems pretty quick and easy here. anyway, regardless, it may be worth having it done just for the peace of mind it may bring you. i dont know for sure but if you think you have symptoms of corona, your doctor can make that call if you should be tested or not.
so about the floux, 4 -8 weeks is a damn long time yo wait without something for immediate stress/anxiety/panic disorder. must be hellish for you. have you talked to your doctor about a benzo (adavan, xanex, konopin, etc. or the UK equivalent) ? this really helps me during heavy anxiety and stress. it calms me in as little as 15 minutes. this may be something to ask him for a prescription. cant imagine asking could hurt, no?
they have much better anti anxiety meds now. ask about Lexapro and Latuda. i had the same experience with anti depressants, and it may take some time to find the right meds for you specifically. everyone is different in how we react to different meds. so be patient and ask your doctor about the latest meds out there.
just a quick question because i am curious; why are you seeing a neurologist versus a psychiatrist ? they are not the same thing, are they?
a psychiatrist is up on the latest meds to make you feel better in my experience anyway. the clonazepam is a benzo for fast relief? what has he given you for a long term anti anxiety medicine?
hi david im also taking valium on bad days. im actually a wreck this morning my daughter came in to me telling me she had been sick at 5am and her throat hurts. i went and cleaned up and immediately had to goto the toilet myself. heart rate through the roof thinking please god dont let her have corona. i took a valium and im still anxious and feeling cold. feel like it could be anxiety but also worrying about corona now. i have no fever or cough but i understand everybodys symptoms are very different now with it. this is such a debilitating time im also going through a divorce im just on overdrive
damn, you are going through a lot. holy mackrel !! okay, first, how long have you been on the valium ? how often do you take it? i ask because your body can build up a tolerance to it. i take xanex and it always seems to work. but i think you are totally stressed out. anxiety causes all kinds of stomach ailments, and its not uncommon to have diahrea or spastic colon when you get stressed out or too much anxiety, i know i get that too. stay hydrated, drink lots of water, it will help. you may need a break before you break. as for your child; remember that corona is not the only thing that causes sore throats in kids. pollen, mold, dust can also cause the throat to be irritated in kids. it could be just the start of an allergy or possibly a cold and nothing to really worry about. kids are very resilient.
but i am worried about you. divorces are tough, ive been through one, so i know. emotions and frustration levels at their peak. aside from meds, you need to unwind. you need to relax and maybe take a “me” day. do something you enjoy, even if its just a ride in the car or a long walk. got to clear your head. try a long hot bath, or a hot shower, that always helps me. sounds like your valium is not curbing all your anxiety symptoms, i dare ask if you would consider upping your dose, or trying something else like adavan? also you want to stay away from caffeine and sugar they only amplify your anxiety symptoms. you are having a really hard time and i applaud your courage and efforts. do yourself a favor, find someone to vent to. call a friend, find a therapist, a priest, your mom, anybody who will listen, and let all that pent up anxiety fly, just let it go. you will feel oodles better afterwards. i hope this helps and write back and let me know how you are doing. hang in there and you are not alone
