I was diagnosed with an anal fissure about 18 months ago after a long time of being too embarrassed to go to the doctor. I was referred to the hospital who prescribed anoheal. I have to say this worked well however a couple of months after completing the treatment I strained going to the toilet after a couple of drinks too many and reopened the fissure again. Generally it's nowhere near as painful as it was but I do occasionally suffer from heavy bleeding after a BM. It's not dripping into the loo or anything but just looks like such a lot on the toilet paper. I find the whole experience terrifying. I'm going to go back to the GP next week. I just hope it's nothing more serious
know the feeling same as u about three yrs ago, sent to hospital and was operaterd on to cut the fissure away then left to heal by its self, this entailed taking the scarred tissue away, but it seemed to have worked, with the help of a changed diet.
Hi flame
Try not to worry too much. You are bound to bleed if your fissure has reopened ...... that area is quite vascular and the bright red blood you've seen can be really scary, but I'm certain it won't be anything to really be alarmed about.
I'm sure your GP will be able to reassure you.
will call the surgery tomorrow. Just wish it would heal!
