Anyone else had this

Hi guys wondering if anyone had same as myself, I got a billiteral hip replacement 5 weeks ago today, hips been great, able to walk fairly decently with 1 crutch but since op I've had horrible numbness and pins and needles in my left foot, it's really painful at times like an electric taser, my surgeon gave me an MRI scan on spine and hip said nothing showed but a stretched nerve common in billeteral hip replacement, not really much better see surgeon in fortnight, as I say hips great but the foot thing very annoying

Just wondering if anyone else experienced this effect after hip surgery

Hi Brian,

I have not experienced this but sounds like sciatica , can you try and see your GP as they can help with medication if it is , as you will no doubt want to maintain your progress since your hip operations.

The symptoms sound like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - which is constricted nerve - so a stretched nerve sounds like a real possibility.

Can you mention this to ur therapist. Or leave message with doctors . sometimes strain from recovery places a lot of strain on other parts of the body. The struggles after hip replacement in the first few weeks is when many experience other pain in some way related to recovery.

In in some cases pins and needles I'd from swelling ice the hip helps in many cases.
