I've had this now for 2.5 weeks and it's so uncomfortable, been off work (a new job just started ugh) and I just can't function properly. First doc said viral infection then next doc said fungal infection so I'm taking pills and liquid but after 4 days still no change. Also I now have this annoying cough that is also keeping me up at night :-(
Has anyone experienced this and can offer me any help? I'm really desperate as it's so painful.
Thank you in advance!
The last time I had such pain swallowing, I had a strep throat. It took a while for antibiotic to clear it up.
Thanks for your response leofta10932, the doc said not strep as no fever and no white pus on my throat :-( 3 docs in a week and headed to number 4 this week...
The sore throat I went through was horrible. There were some redness but no fever and no pus. No other symptoms beyond the sore throat.
Strep or not, you should work with one doctor to help solve your problems. Meanwhile, gargle with peroxide or something to ease your pain.
Recently had that and it lasted for 3 weeks. Main reason was that my doctor couldn't fit me in at all the first week and then I didn't test positive for strep so she said it may be a mutated version (that happened to me with the flu 2 years ago where I had it bad enough to go to the hospital but the first test was negative) and sent me on my way. Most likely if I had the antibiotics in the first few days it wouldn't have lasted as long.
For me it was definitly worse when I had things high in acid like orange juice or anything with a colder temperature. But my hot coffee with honey in the mornings was heaven.
