Anyone experienced this? Is there treatment?

i didnt know where else to post this so here goes.

I’m making the switch from effexor to bupropion and I’m starting to get a bit worried. after weaning myself off of the former I’ve been experiencing what feel like jolts of electricity behind my eyes that radiate to my head and into my chest. it’s not painful at all, just unsettling. has anyone had trouble with this and are there treatment options available?

they are sometimes called brain zaps and certain antidepressant meds cause them. some go away but if they are bothersome, tell your doctor to discuss it .

I’ve already messaged my doctor about that, but what I’ve found as well with this medication is that I’m easy to anger, which has never happened to me before taking meds for anxiety.

I’ve read that the brain zaps are a normal side effect when trying to wean off that med. Everyone is different. It’s one of the reasons why I was afraid to take it. It may take a few weeks for the withdrawal symptoms to ease. I just started Lexapro. Have you heard of that? One of the safest with the least side effects. Takes about 4-6 weeks to kick in. All meds are hard in the first few weeks but, it’s calming and I don’t feel drugged on it. Dizziness though the first 2 weeks and some morning anxiety but, it is slowing helping. It treats depression and anxiety which I have since horrible perimenopause hit. Just a thought though. Sending you hugs. Hang in there. Know that it’s normal to experience what your going through right now based on that medication.
