Anyone experiencing voice change due to Acid Reflux or LPR?

Hello guys,

I have a history of Acid reflux and I'm presently taking Tecta. However lately I feel as if I'm developing symptoms of LPR like feeling that there is mucus stuck to the back of my throat, or even spitting up some in the morning.

But what is concerning me the most is the change in my voice I seem to be noticing. I feel as if my nose is stuffed even though I'm not really congested and my voice is more nasally then before.

Anyone experiencing anything similar? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Yes, me also but to date the only things I’ve found that help are taking 1 teaspoon of extra virgin pine nut oil one hour prior to meals, eating smaller meals slowly, chewing my food thouroghly, eliminating acid producing foods from my diet, raising the head of my bed 6” or more and not going to bed within 4 hours of eating.

I had this a few years back.  As my GERD then LPR worsened, I was given higher and higher doses of PPIs (Tecta, etc), and even so, it continued to worsen. At one point I lost my voice for several weeks.  Then I had a Nissen fundiplication three months ago and it changed my life.

There are several recent studies that show that long term use of PPIs is linked clearly to cancer or the stomach.  Not only that, they don't really cure GERD and a lot of people end up with Barrets esophagus anyways.  The fundiplication is a much better and safer long term solution. In teh USA it is expensive, while in Europe (in my case Spain) it costs $7,000.  The best investment I have ever made.

Thanks Frank60300,

I'll give the extra virgin pine nut oil a try.

Glad to hear you are doing better Giscome. Wow, I didn't know about PPI's being linked to stomach cancer, it is a little disconcerting to hear that, they tend to push these meds like candy.
