Anyone get nocturnal panic attacks?

Hi everyone I fall asleep and am suddenly awakened with a racing pulse and state of panic. I don't know if this is a nocturnal panic attack. I take my mind off it by watching something funny on tv and drinking water, that helps a lot. Anyone else had this? Thanks

hi. .. yes I get racing heart!! its so scary, Ill wake up in the middle of the night with it also. very scary, it usually takes a few hours to go away

i wake up out of my sleep every night with something different… nausea, shortness of breath, stomach cramps. ugh i hate it

I do this too. I get the feeling of fear rushing through my body and racing heart. I hate it and dont know how to stop it. I just wanna sleep!

Hello,

I have dealt with nocturnal panic attacks. they are not the best but i try looking at them as your body releasing tension and stress. I actually still deal with some symptoms where i can wake up from a jolt, feeling disoriented, having visual problems when getting up half asleep, not being able to swallow my saliva, which leads to a minor panic while waking up; head sensations have woken me up such as head zaps. all of these symptoms are harmless though. i feel like your body will eventually get over the attacks as you start to accept your symptoms and relieve stress  i exercise a lot and i can still have little things that set me off. But it is a working progress. i sometimes deal with nervous with my eyes as i close them. its like they are twitching because im a bit nervous about resting and having to deal with waking up from a symptom. But thats my big problem. i need to go to bed with a less-tense mentality and just feel positive about rest.

Thank you all so much for replying and giving me the reassurance I need. So sorry you are all going through this too. When it first happened I thought I was having a heart attack. I was hot and cold, sweaty, panicky, shivering but I took my mind off it by watching tv and it eventually passed. Now I do the same thing but have learned to accept it and don’t panic about it. I get the same symptoms as all of you. I also get skipped beats or flutters but I spoke to my doctor about these several weeks ago and he said it was anxiety.
I hope we all find peace soon.
