Hi all, I'm 10 months post internal hemorrhoidectomy and still having issues (pain during BM, random pains for days/weeks). I am considering getting a second opinion as my surgeon keeps perpetually telling me to come back in a few months. I'm aware that if I get another doctor to have a look they will probably want to do a proctoscope / anuscope. I am terrified at the prospect and that it will cause a fissure or some other issue (I've had fissures on/off for 2 years). The literature around protoscopy just says that it shouldn't be painful, but after my experience of hemorrhoidectomy recovery (where the literature said it will take a few weeks to recover) I don't trust anything like this anymore. Anyone our there had experience of a proctoscope and if so, was worth it? I.e. did it create new problems. Thanks!
