Waiting to have investigations done as I have been having pain and bowel issues that have not calmed down - now 10 months post op. I did have a full abdominal hysterectomy - and I did have a very large fibroid removed that was compressing my bowel. Needless to say going to the loo is not good - doc suspects I have adhesions - has anyone had this? What happened? Will I need to take laxatives forever????
I invested in a squatty potty. Google it and see what you think. Basically it ensures you sit at the right angle, leaning forward with knees upwards to ensure ease and no straining. I find it helps a lot and protects my pelvic floor. Hope all goes well for you.
I have been going to physical therapy for back pain since hysterectomy but they have been compressing and decompressing entire abdominal region. May be worth looking into.
Thanks Celia, i am going to have physio too - as my core is very weak. Some of my issues were pre-op though and they have just become worse! Some of it will be pelvic floor related - but doc suspects I have either adhesions or polyps as well ![]()
Thanks BWS - has the physio helped at all? I am going to go there too! When I was being examined, my doc just touched part of my spine - and I nearly hit the roof - so sore! She says the 2 issues I have are not related. My bad back is due to the hysterectomy for sure - bowel issues more likely polyps or adhestions - ah! the joys of being a woman!
PT has absolutely helped my back pain. I have had back issues for 20+ years. Abdominal muscles not engaging (per physical therapist) post hysterectomy. Facia in abdomen like concrete (per physical therapist) and not in a good way. The PT facility I go to is very hands on and I do my home exercises daily.
