About two weeks ago I started feeling some "pins and needles" plus muscle twitch randomly all over my body. This started a day after I got bit by a small dog and I started to get anxious because of not being to see a doctor in time. I did manage to see my doctor and she said the dog bite is superficial and there is no concern for rabies (I did get my tetanus shot). She also did a blood test which actually came back with slightly elevated creatinine levels. The result took me to a even higher elevated state of anxieties (bad sleep and constant fear). Moving forward to today, I'm more calm, blood work is looking better (need to re- test in two weeks) and doc again confirmed the dog bite is not the cause of my pins and needles symptoms. She referred me to a neurologist.
I don't know how to get rid of these "pins and needles" symptoms (two weeks in so far) they are getting more intense and painful. I am seeing a psychologist to help with the anxieties, working out and eating healthy. should ask for some Xanax from my doctor?
Is this really due to anxieties? My doc said blood work is fine at this point.
Pins and needles are a sign of anxeity. Are you taking medication? Has your doctor prescribed you any meds for your anxiety? Stress causes nerve “inflammation” and causes pins and needles. You need to talk to your doctor about medications.
Yes I get these I have been really working on this symptom to not cause me to be more anxious as that keeps the symptoms there. Try taking a high dose of vitamin b12 it helps and can make this symptom go away
I have not asked my doctor about meds, I previously tried some of the anti-depressant but did not like their side effects. The only thing that helped was Xanax and daily jogging.
I'm a bit weary about using Xanax due to it's strong effect after you get of it.
Thank you I'll give that a try.
I believe that the side effects are worth it. Your body needs to regulate while on this medication and will get better. It’s supposed to get worse before it gets better. You’ve got to take it everyday and allow it to build up in your system. Talk to your doctor about starting you off on a small dosage of 5mg or maybe even 10mg of whatever it is the doctor puts you on. Once you get used to your medication on that dosage, she might keep you on that size or will bump you up, depending on if it’s working or not.
Also, you can’t just stop suddenly while taking anti depressants, it’s bad for you body and will cause withdrawal or more severe side effects and can also lead up to something serious. You’re supposed to wing yourself off of it by taking smaller dosages until you completely rid yourself of it.
