I have been in pain now for a month my mother thinks I have gallstones and it’s really frustrating me with the pain I have been to the doctors every week to push for a scan and nobody is helping I even walked to the hospital from work which is like 30 minutes away with pain crying and they told me to go to the bigger hospital which takes an hour to get there as there’s no doctors at my hospital at the time does anyone know how to ease the pain I feel like I’m gonna have a breakdown from this it’s really making me feel rubbish about myself I have no appetite I feel like I’m losing friends and family cause I’m constantly tired or moaning about the pain and having to leave work or call in sick I just feel so stuck can someone who’s been In the same situation help?
I lived with gallbladder pain for 6 months until I finally called 911.I use to put a heat pack on my right side ..take hot showers. My gallbladder pain would last hours after a attack.I suggest you go to a hospital and have them to a ultrasound...
Have they said why they’re not doing an ultrasound? If the symptoms point towards a gallbladder issue then surely they need to request one for you xx
Before I had the gallbladder out I was taking tramadol (was already on it for something else), paracetamol, ibuprofen (with lansoprazole to protect stomach as nsaids irritate it), and buscopan cramps. Then metoclopramide for nausea which was changed to cyclizine and ondansetron while in hospital as can only take metoclopramide for 2 weeks xx
Hi Kate: I would suggest you get into one of the big hospitals and get an ultrasound. It could get alot worse. For the past 20 something years i had that same pain and for years my GP back home thought it was an ulcer I had. So he treated it like it was. We'll three years ago I started having problems again, serious pain, bloating, the poops, nauseau and sometimes I got sick. So my GP here in Edmonton, Alberta, finally sent me to see a specialist. He did ultrasounds and found out I had had gallstones. They put me on amaprozole, for awhile until my surgery date. I waited almost two years. When I got the call I was nervous at first, bit now I feel better after a year from having the surgery . I would suggest you try to advoid greasey, spicy foods for now and when the pain comes have a glass of cold water or a cup of tea. It always soothed my pain. Take care and good luck iris
There’s a waiting list for the scan and i have to wait I live in England and they said there’s a big waiting list I just feel like I can’t do anything without being in pain Thankyou for replying. Im gonna call the doctor also the big hospital to see if they can do anything quicker
The 1st doctor I saw said I was to young to have gallstones. I’m 27 next month and because I was seriously overweight 3 years ago I lost a rapid amount and I have been told that could be the cause of it. I have been put on the waiting list for a scan but it could take months Thankyou for replying.
Thankyou so much for your reply I’m really hoping it gets sorted it’s really putting a strain on my life I can’t seem to do anything the 1st doctor I saw said I was to young to have gallstones then the 2nd doctor said it sounds like gallstones I haven’t been well for the past few days now my mum thinks I could have a infection there as I have had a temperature and feeling spaced out. I have been taking dihydrocodeine to ease the pain and it completely went on Saturday I don’t have any left now so the symptoms have come back I just feel stuck and frustrated that no body seems to be helping. They didn’t even prescribe me anything I had those tablets left over from when I had a tooth out
Kate, if you are having fever, you really need to go to the big hospital and make them help you. If your gallbladder is infected, it can be quite serious! I am sorry it takes so long to get taken care of over there. Having universal health care is a great thing and I often wish we had that in the U.S. except when I hear about this kind of thing. Sick people SHOULD be helped, period. Keep going until they address the issue. There is not a great deal you can do until they remove the gallbladder. Omerprazole 20 mg is available here without a prescription and if it is available to you, take 4 a day. Eat a bland diet, NO FAT, no spicy food. Best wishes to you!
Thankyou so much ! I haven’t been eating very much because of the pain but when I have been eating all it’s been is bland boring food. I’m gonna go back to the doctors today as I have the day off work just hoping they can sort something out really appreciate everyone’s help been really worried and upset cause nobody seems to know what to do that’s why I have written this makes me feel a lot better knowing that it can be resolved I will push to get somewhere
It is frustrating having to wait for scans etc. Try ringing the radiology dept. and explain about how much pain you have and ask them to contact you if they have any cancellations. Also ask your doc to make it an urgent referral if possible.
Thankyou I’ll look into it. I get that it costs a lot of money and there are people in worst places than me just very upsetting and frustrating I hope the doctor can do something when I see them.
That’s daft! The only part I die of who’d normally get gallstones is that I’m female and fertile (fair, female, fertile, fat and forty). I’m 30 and had mines out in August. My mate was 28 when she got hers out after having 2 children. Turns out I had chronic cholecystitis which they saw on the pathology of the gallbladder. Sounds like you need to see a different doctor. Mines sent me for an ultrasound straight away as knew it was gallbladder by symptoms. Ended up admitted to hospital twice with cholecystitis as well. If you have fever and jaundice it’s an emergency xx
I have had some nights when I have been in extreme pain but I hate causing problems for people I recently had to move back home with my mum I don’t drive either so I would have to get her to take me to the hospital and I don’t like making a scene I think I’m probably gonna have to do something about it as nobody seems to be taking it seriously and I’m worried it could be infected I know it’s inflammed as the tablets I was having made it seem to go but it’s back again
I’m so very sorry you are having to go through this. I know it gets depressing. Try eating six small meals with as little fat as possible. Force fluids and stay away from beef.
