Does anyone take prozac? Are you currently on it, or took it before? What side effects did you have? Did it help your anxiety?
I am not on meds right now but my doctor wants to put me on Prozac and she said she wants me to take it for a maximum of a year. Idk if I should go on it. She said my anxiety is situational, based on what's happening in my life right now (dad had a stroke, held back from going to college, family wants to move to our hometown but we are having problems with evicting the people we are renting our house to)
I have the common anxiety symptoms which is what freaks me out, and she said with prozac that I'll experience heart palpitations, drowsiness, dizziness, trouble sleeping. I have some of these without the meds, so what would be the point of taking prozac if the symptoms will be the same? I don't have suicidal thoughts but I do stress about the things I mentioned above and about my health. I am more afraid of dying and afraid of getting sick or having some serious disability or illness.
I'm on Prozac and have never really had any side effects on them. They have helped me take back control of my life and I doubt I will ever be off them! You may as well give them a trial and see how you are with them. Good luck.
I used to be on prozac and at the time I was in St Andrews psychiatric hospital. I went sky high after about a day. I didn't want to go to bed and wen I went to bed only ìn it a short time I'd later take my prozac and I found everything really funny. This must sound funny but I was done in and pleaded with my psyc to change it and he did. We all are different and all our dis eases are different. Take what you feel is right I've heard good and bad. The bad is insomnia and some get suicidal ideation wen on prozac. For some it's a wonder drug..

I was on Prozac for about 3-4 years. I actually really liked it. It made me much more happy and helped my anxiety tremendoulsy. I was sexually abused right around the time I turned 13 and would wake up screaming. Couldn't sleep at night, would stay up and fall asleep in the mornings, had to be pulled out of school, etc. I did really well on it until I was about 17, I started to have trouble reaching orgasm. Food didn't taste exactly right, it was almost like it dulled my senses. But, I was combining it with Zonegran which is for seizures, so that may have had something to do with it. The only side effects I had with it was if I took it in the morning, it made me kind of sleepy. If I took it for a while and then missed a dose, I was very, very irratable. I would snap very easily. It was like I always had too much adrenaline, but I've always been a little bit like that. I didn't really have any problems coming off of it, either. I adjusted pretty well. Best of luck hun!
