I'm starting to take methotrexare from tomorrow eve, my consultant and pharmacist have not mentioned anything about me being on citalopram and if it's safe to take these two drugs at the same time? Is anyone rake taking citalopram whilst taking methotrexare?
And what can I expect tomorrow with first 10mg dose of methotrexate?
Hi Caraj . I have been on both tablets for years . And have had no problems . With the methotrexate . I started on a low dose . Then had it increased over time . You will need to have regular blood tested while on the methotrexate . Hope this helps .
You should be ok with taking both citalopram and MTX. But I would take them different times of the day.
Eat a high carb meal before taking the MTX. You should also be taking about 1mg prescription Folic Acid as well [not the OTC stuff].

Caraj, you are obviously very concerned about what is happening to you - and rightly so! But, do you know, like most other things that happen to us, the expectation is always far worse than the reality. Keep your chin up, in no time at all you will be getting on with your life and ranting and raving about the cost of living like the rest of us.
For the past 20+ years I've taken 1 mg Folic Acid 7 days a week. I know a lot of people dont take it on the day of MTX or day before. Frankly, I don't think much harm is done either way.
I take 5mg frolic acid every day . Apart from the day I take methotrexate .
