Anyone with hypothyroid feel hungry all the time?

I'm constantly hungry. I can eat a huge meal and still feel starving. Anyone get this?

No but I have read that thyroid problems and diabetes often go together. Constant hunger is a symptom of diabetes so I would get tested for it.

I believe it's usually the opposite, with hypothyroidism, you should feel less hungry because the body is not using up it's energy store as fast as it should, so you shouldn't feel hungry all the time.  With hyperthyroidism, your body is burning up it's store of energy way too fast and sets off the hungry bell in order to get more fuel.  But hey.. everyone's different and experience different symptoms.  For myself, if I lean towards hypo, I feel like I have to force myself to eat, unless it's sweets..lol.  If I lean towards hyper, I can't stop eating..

Yup, totally! I add dandelion greens to my salad, which helps. Also white kidney bean extract seems to help stabilize blood sugar. A good multivitamin and multimineral also help.

I should clarify. With hypothyroidism, your body is not producing the energy it needs, so you're basically starving. The tendency is to eat when you have low energy, so you wind up starving while you're gaining weight. Plus you have the hypothyroid bloat thing... balloon effect!

Lots of high quality animal protein also helps.

Constant hunger is a possible symptom of diabetes. People who are hypo can also have a higher than normal risk of being diabetic, so I'd suggest you get tested for diabetes, if only to rule it out.

Oh my gosh YES. There aren't a lot of us out there with this symptom from what I understand.

I actually thought I might have hypoglycemia although I am not diabetic.

I have found that eating lean protein (1 medium chicken breast for instance) at 10 am and another at 3 pm keep me relatively stable throughout the day.  Of course I'm also eating normal meals but if I don't have the lean protein snacks I feel voraciously hungry and I will feel more and more hideous as the day progresses.
