Apixaban and muscle pain

Has anyone found they have more aches and pains in muscles and joints whilst taking apixaban (eliquis)

I've been on Apixaban for a couple of months now and have had a flare up of my rheumatoid arthritis concurrently. I hadn't associated it with the Apixaban previously, but you may be right. Be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this.

HiAnne. Going to try and get an appointment with GP. Had not considered arthritis ,thanks for the info. Will post again if I get any info

Hi con129d. I've just Googled it (how did we ever manage before?) and there would appear to be a clear link for some people. It appears to increase with age. May be time to see my own GP too!

Got an appointment this morning. Will post results if any later.

Appointment was a waste of time.Doctor looked in his book and said joint and muscle pain was not reported, that was the end of consultation he had no idea.Asked to see heart consultant. Will wait for appointment

.

How very frustrating for you! In my limited experience specialists tend to have tunnel vision. They don't look for related conditions very often but may be more receptive than your GP.

I am also interested in responses as I am currently on Pradaxa but considering switching to Eliquis as it is 1/3 the cost. Seems like Pradaxa has given me side effects including muscle soreness which is another reason for considering switching.

Decided to stop apixaban 2 days ago. Aches and joint pains subsiding. It's early days yet but it appears as if apixaban causes muscle and joint pain. G.P.'s appear to be fixated on "The National Formulary" information on drugs. Printed outdated ,and only contains information supplied by the drug makers. "Say no more". This drug does have side effects not publicised and doctors are no more informed than people using the internet.God help us.
