I'm 6 weeks post op and for the first month was off my food (very alien to me). I lost about a stone. I was delighted, I thought there is a plus side to this very difficult operation. But suddenly, appetite is back with a vengeance! Help! Is this normal?
Hi Elaine, That is what happened to me. No appetite at first and I dropped some weight. And then I think the body requires food to recover. All told I was a little heavier due to inactivity and snacking out of boredom. Now that I'm further along (12 wks) I'm trying to shed a few of those lbs. That muscle etc takes food to regenerate! Best of luck!
Ohhhh elaine lol im 7 weeks post op and im exactly the same ive lost just over a stone in fact yest I had joggers on cos there all ive worn for comfort and I thought something didnt feel right and my knickers were round my knees lol lol. Ive got awful dinner lady arms and my son was lookin at my knee yest and he said my leg looked like a cocktail stick with a cherry in the middle!!!! Unf I now too am starting to eat lots but gonna get control pretty damned quick or I might go the opposite way ha ha x
Me too, I've worn jogging bottoms because of ice pack etc and comfort, and when I put my jeans back on to go out was delighted that they were big! How annoying to have to now curb our appetite! After all we've been through! I've got to get a grip of it otherwise I'll be back up again. Good luck! X
Yeh now we cant even eat what we want lol I must admit though when I left work they were all laughing saying ha ha when you come back ul have put 2 stone on cos you wont be able to move and ul be eating cos ur bored!!!!! Hmmmm I hope their not right lol. Avin said that ive just shared an easter egg with my hubby grrrrrrrrr
It took a long time for me to get my appetite back...I lost a stone after first TKR, eventually put it back on again, and then lost it again after my 2nd TKR last Sept. I'm hoping that it will stay off permanently this time!
I was hoping that patsy til that easter egg shouted eat me eat me lol x
This has got to be the best post out of all if the takes.
Yes I also lost about a stone (couple more to go) but now have my chocolate craving back with a vengeance !
Alcohol still a no no as am still taking painkillers but maybe two weeks away.
I think we all need a pat on the back as this is a b****** (sorry ) of an operation and so is the recovery. I was told at pre op not to diet and to eat protein enriched foods so being the good girlie that I am have done just that I'm sure Galaxy is full of protein or calories both of which we need to help repai our muscles bones etc
Oooo peg good thinking id best get some more choccy lol
