Are EKGS / ECGS trustworthy?

A few weeks ago I got an EKG/ ECG due to heart palpitations and my doctor/ GP said I was fine, although on the graph she told me to give to a person at the desk said on the side Sinus Bradycardia even though she said I was fine and my heart rate was 67 or 68. Then a few days later when I saw a pulmonary/sleep doctor the assistant nurse that checked my heart rate and said it was low for my height and weight and age (it changed between 56-59). I have very bad health anxiety but have not felt like I was going to pass out or anything but I am afraid they missed something. Is it usual for an EKG/ECG or doctor/gp to miss a very bad reading that will kill em. Please help me out thanks

Hi Trevor,

If you really want to be on the safe side, I would suggest getting a stress test from a cardiologist and what ever other tests you and he together decide might be worth running. EKG's are good for showing what your basic heart rhythm us doing at the time you're having the test done BUT they don't show everything.

Better safe than sorry!

HI Trevor , don’t be alarmed !  You are most likely ok ! Health anxiety can produce a lot of symptoms ! , I had an ECG and the heart flutter feelings I was experiencing kept happening ! So I wasn’t put on a 3 weeks holter monitor so when I felt these symptoms I would press a button , this would recorded the event that happened 1 min before and 1 after ! I’m still to receive my results so looking forward to some clarificationsmile maybe ask to be put on one of these ?

Take care
