Hi guys
My test results came back as
tsh 1.66 Mu/l
Free t4 19pmol/l
Free t3. 4.6 pmol/l
6 months ago the results were
Tsh 2.26 mu/l
Free t4 16 pmol/l
Free t3 4.4 pmol/l
Now although yes I feel slightly better from 6 months ago I still feel awful and it's really getting to me.
All my vits a mins came back fine. I had a full count and they look good. I eat so well. Don't drink don't do drugs and don't smoke.
Could adding some t3 to they dose of 50mg of thyroxine help? My doc has said no but I'm just not sure he is right? I hear great things about t4/t3 mix?
I'd be really grateful for any advice cheers guys
Many thanks
Nick
Hi Nick,
It would really help if you posted the range next to the result as the range varies between labs.
For example, taking your TSH result...at my lab, the TSH range is 0.4-4.9. If the range for your TSH result Is the same, you can see that both 1.66 and 2.26 are in range. You said you felt better at the lower value, 1.66. It is known that some people feel better when their TSH result is at the low end of the normal range (e.g. 0.4 in my example). So you can see that you still have scope to increase your thyroxine dose but still be in range. Have a chat with your doctor regarding trying 25mcg more thyroxine. If after 6 weeks the blood test shows your dose is too high, you can either cut the tablet in half, or take 50mcg then 75mcg on alternate days. By the way I personally think it takes 3 months before the blood test correctly reflects a change in dose.
NICKRIOT1;
What are your symptoms? Are you on any additional medication? Do you consume vitamin/mineral/herbal supplements? What foods/drink do you consume? Have you had your house water checked for chlorofluorocarbons, phthalates, and other possible contaminants which could interfere with your thyroid (other) gland. Lastly, has parathyroidism been ruled out?
