I'm a healthy 16 y old male, heawanted to gain more muscle, friends adviced me to have protein shakes. My question is if protein shakes are bad for my growth and kidneys?
Hello my friend,
You haven't mentioned your present weight.
Do you want to look like a guy with muscle and good shape or a skeleton with muscle.
If your already skinny and want to look good with shape, then you have to eat.
If you want to build muscle, then the 'saying' is true 'no pain, no gain' but with joint injury the saying is not true, we are talking about 'rehabilitation' not nuclear growth.
Now back to muscle building, the pain side of muscle building is tearing the muscle to which then repairs and becomes bigger and this is where the protein comes in to help the repair and growth of the muscle. Some people rely on diet like high protein foods and others go for tasty powders, you could check out 'Creatin' it is already produced by your body so it's legal, but leave it at that and I have to say check all this out with a reputable trainer
Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.
Think this idea through. Why do you want to gain more muscle? You are still growing. Allow yourself the time for your body to develop.Better still would be to consider your current diet. Keep a record of what you eat and see how it relates to the latest advice on so-called reference dietary intakes. You are young enough to develop sensible eating habits that would have real long-term benefits. Last point, be very aware that "exercise" can damage your body. I know, I hurt my back when I was your age and it was a life-long injury that has badly affected my life.
Very good point my friend
