I am hoping that there is an existing support group in the north of England as I do not have the ability to set up a new group.
I am interested in this as well, and am currently looking. Could you please inform me if you've found one, and I'll make sure to do the same? Thank you.
Hello Jan, I don't know of any peer support groups. I have been told by an organisation that i will get support setting one up in the north of England but as I well know from other people's experiences that the organiser ends up bearing the burden of keeping the momentum going. I just don't have the tenacity or mental strength to do this or to see it fail. If I didn't have this cursed condition I would feel differently. Sorry if what I say seems so negative but I am a realist as far as my own situation is concerned! I'll keep a look out though and post details of any support groups I find
Actually, I don't have the condition.. my girlfriend does. And I am doing my best to support her.. I'm seriously considering starting one for her and for everyone else who has it, but I'm not a very social person, and feel like I lack the social skills needed to set one up.. Which part of England do you live in? I could maybe keep in contact with you if I decide to start one.. Keep holding on Karen, I know it's difficult, but keep your chin up!
I live in the north of England- a 4-5 hour journey from the nearest specialist pain management centre so am pretty isolated. I have a pain specialist who has knowledge of CRPS although his specialty is painful neuropathiies. He's pretty good on the emotional side of pain and hit the nail on the head when he asked me if I was mourning my old self, something i hadn't considered at all til' then but is absolutely what was happening.
I see.. in any case, goodluck Karen, and do feel free to keep in touch. I'll let you know if I decide to run a peer group. Thanks for your help, stay strong!
