Are these IBS symptoms?

I have this horrilbe abdominal cramps and gas that just won't go away.  I was hospitalized for diahrea 2 weeks ago and that subsided.  I had a colonoscopy done in the hospital and was ok for a few days and then this cramping began and never went away.  My gastro doc doesn't think its serious but I do cause I have to be so so uncomfortable.  The last thing I want to do is eat.  I just don't know what to do.

If this is Ibs it sounds like an extremely servere case. But you do need to try and eat or at least get high energy drinks inside you for your blood sugar and energy. If the doctor isnt taking you seriously, try and see a specialist. It may be expensive but the longer you leave it the worse it may become. Are there any foods you can eat and have you tried the try the BRATY diet (bananas, rice (white) applesauce (or cooked apples) toast (again white) and yogurt (try and go bio ) and see if that helps then you can slowly introduce new things. Its not part of the diet but when I have a flare up I find that porridge, scrambled eggs, chicken, plan fish, chicken noodle broth and ginger oat biscuits (NAIRNS) are quite good for me depending on my symptoms. Its all trial and error, but only try whats good for you. Additionally, Ive been on this medication called Silicol Gel for the past week and a bit and although Im not 100% im definitly seeing some improvement.

I can eat more reguarly although my potions are still small and am getting a bit of an appetite back. It is also meant to help with bowel irregularity so maybe if it is IBS you can give this a go (be warned... it tastes vile :P) It can be brought at most health food stores.

Good Luck.

Hun Ibs cramping pain is so horrible i hadmine bad every day for 3 months solid couldnt eat sleep or anything like you i had all the tests done which were fine i started drinking lost of lemon water and that and within a few days it started to settled, try a heat pad for craming pains. or going for a swim it does help codomol and tramdol causeibs to flare badly they will help with pain but make you very constpated and then your back to square one

Cherl

Hi Cherl.  I really don't know how I developed this but my friend says it could be stress related and I have been stressing over other illnesses that I am having problems with and then there is the financial worries and choices of how I am going to afford to stay in my apartment.  My mind can't rest and I heard the mind releases overloaded stress on the body in a form of pain cause it can only handle so much.  Sounds logical in a way.  Iwas in pain with my mid back and it wrapped around my left side.  thought I had kidney stones, nope then I thought shingles, well doc said no rash, no shingles but I disagree.  I have read people don't always get the rash.  I suffered with that the entire summer. I also have Interstitial Cystitis (inflammation in the bladder) and go for direct bladder cocktails to calm it down, so now this IBS, just wonderful for Thanksgiving, the last thing I want is food and more cramping.  My primary doctor gave me Bentyl its an antispasmadic but it can cause constipation which is another problem so I take it very little.  I just don't understand where all the gas comes from.  I am not eating anything gassy at all.  Do you take probiotics?  Thanks for being here for me

I wish I could answer your question. I feel with you.

I have started to have cramps, gas and diarhoea upto 30 times a day out of the blue more then 3 years ago.

I had a blood test and a stool test.

I was diagnosed with Celiace disease.

I have been on a gluten free, oat, wheat and barley free diet since.

However, I still have bloated stomach and cramps few times and therefore,

I am going to have a gastroendoscopy and a colonoscopy in 2 days.

I suggest that you try to be on a diet like me for a month and you will see if your symptoms still remain.

You might be also intolerant to lactoze.

you have had an endoscopy. did they check out if you have a coliace?

Plus, please can you tell me how did you feel and how did it go when you had your colonoscopy? I have choosen to be sedated. I do not want to know to much when they are going to do the gastroendoscopy and specialy the endoscopy.

Gas as a pain killer did not work with me when I was giving birth to my child.

What did do choose. If sedation, were you absolutely ok few hours after that?

I have to pick up my child from after scholl at 6pm and I will be given the sedative at about 1.30pm. I will also be alone with my child as a lone parent the whole night. Am I going to be perfectly capable to look after her? She is 4 years old.

Thank you.

Jana
