Well came home yesterday afternoon must say hospitals have got to be the worst places to recover !!
All went well with the actual op my surgeon was very pleased the largest fibroid I had was just over 20 cm and I can feel the difference all ready, dont feel so hard and bulky.
My anasthetic though was a nightmare they wanted to give me a spinal for the pain relief but when it came to putting the needle into my spine she touch somthing and I screamed out in pain this happened twice so she had to abandon it , Went to theatre at 10.30am and got back to the ward at 4.30 i was in recovery for a while as the pain was immense they had me on a morphine drip and a fentnyl patch, I stayed on the morphine drip until Friday pm. Passing urine very well but not the bowles ,although my appitite is not back to nowhere normal yet,
Got to go to see the doctor in 2 weeks to get my HRT sorted and have a check up the flushes havn't started yet. Now I home Im just taking paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4 hours i dont feel the need for anything else, I'm surprised at how well i feel, will take a walk around the garden this afternoon for a bit of fresh air.
Must say glad the worst bit (the op and recovery) is over and look forward to the rest, have been given a sick note for 6 weeks.
Take care everyone and look forward to hearing from you
Well done Nicola I bet your glad it's over now the worst for me has been the waiting. How long did you stay in hospital? Take it easy and get plenty of rest and hip hip your fibroid free. Xxxx
My op is on Friday I'm having a TAH I have fibroids one 18 cm which I can really feel my tummy looks swollen. I to have fab family I am just really nervous to the build up. The thought of that spinal does unnerve me slightly. xx
Good luck for friday, Dont let my experience of the spinal worry you as everyone is different it is so important to be calm and relaxed and I know that is difficult when you are going to have majior surgery, look forward to coming home and feeling better
Glad you are ok.It is so much nicer to be home and in your own bed.Hope you read all my posts.(Thank you for your email.I am on my own all day tomorrow so I will email you then)I can honestly say that I feel fantastic.
Sorry I had to send another message but the last one wouldn't take any more.Just wanted to ask if they weighed your fibroid.Mine was just over 6lb but I still weighed the same when I got home.I have dropped a bit now so I must of had a lot of heavy air in me.I stopped the moraine very quickly and the codine.Didn't really need anything except the laxatives but they didn't really work.I was on iron tablets before I went in and I still have them but the constipation pills also contain iron and iron makes you constipated. How do you work that one out.I also have the feeling that my stomach isn't so hard.Even though they couldn't repair my hernia I can't even see where that used to bulge out.I don't feel so tired.I have been signed off for 8 weeks and I have just phoned work and they said there wasn't any rush. They are so understanding.I had staples which are being removed on Weds,do you know what you had. Will email you tomorrow.Lunch is coming up and I am starving. The hospital food was horrible but I have loved my food since being home especially fish and chips and my Sunday roast.
I did read all of your posts, I am really suprised at how well I feel and I think it is going to be difficult not to do anything. Im not dressed today because I know if I do I will start to do things !!
I didnt ask how much it weighed but the surgeon said the largest was 20 cm and I can feel the difference now it has all gone.My sitiches are dissolvable from the inside and my wound is a lot longer than I expeted and is very bruised every now and then I get a horrible pulling sensation that throbs. When I saw my surgeon on the morning of the op he said I would loose a lot of weight, I weighed myself yesterday and dont sem to have lost anything,My appitite has not returned yet, all I have managed so far today is a small bowl of cereal and 2 dry crackers. Even watching the cookery programms on tv is not giving me an appitite.
Will look for your e-mail tomorrow o have a good day
I have only got dressed today and in a few minutes we are going to do some shopping for a few essentials in our local Tesco Express which is 5minutes in the car.Things might be dearer but it is easier to walk round.I want to stock up on cakes and biscuits for visitors and now it is getting warmer I like my salads. The sun is trying to come out aswell.
I had my op 11 days ago. I too had a spinal but after 4 attempts he decided to do it while I was asleep, I was so relieved! When I woke up I felt fantastic, no pain at all and they don't put you in such a deep anaesthetic if you have a spinal although you're still fast asleep. The op for me was the easiest part, it's the recovery I'm finding harder. When I stand up I feel like there's something dropping on my right side, weird feeling. So I know I m walking slightly to the side which is no good but can't help it. Today has been my best so far so onwards and upwards hopefully
Im getting strange pulling/dropping sensation the doctors say it i the muscle sheath repairing back together. I also have a strange skin numbness which is all to do with the incision, but feelingwell today im walking better and finally opened my bowles !!! boy not pleasant thank god i have the laxatives on hand and will now start to take them I supposse i should of done that before !!
