Arthrist in feet few weeks

hi I've got osteoarthritis in both hips I've been getting pain in my foot when walking could this possible have spread to my feet

hi there unfortunately it’s very possible to have it in your feet too. Ask your gp for an xray to be sure and look up mid foot arthritis. Doctors are only starting to recognise it here but it is definitely a thing and very painful.
Hope this hrlps

hi yes it is very painfull

I am seeing gp tomorrow

That’s great be firm with them and let us know how you get on

I have arthritis in my hands, feet and spine, not in my hips (touch wood)! Supportive shoes help, plus making sure you do exercises to keep all the little joints in the feet flexible (massage your feet, wiggle your toes, that sort of thing.

ok I haven’t tried that wiggling my toes

There are 2 things that could be happening here.

  1. If the hip pain is causing you to change the way you walk and stand this may put undue pressure on your feet causing pain.
  2. You could have developed osteoarthritis in your feet. to get this checked out at your doctors, make sure they do a x-ray of your feet while you are standing on them. According to my podiatrist this is the best method for diagnosis.

yeah maybe has I am walking more on my good hip than my bad hip so I may be putting more pressure on my feet with me having hip problems gonna make an appointment next week see what they say

Yeah, I have bad bunions caused by my shoes while I was growing. Plus I don’t know how long there has been arthritis in my feet, x-rays have confirmed this. Doctors who have looked at my feet have been surprised at how much flexibility my feet have considering their condition.

Hi Gemma
When I went to my rheumatologist about my neck pain she diagnosed me with neck osteoarthritis, she showed it to me on my xray. I was also getting knee pain and heel pain in my right foot and sometimes it was very painful to put any weight on it. She told me I had bone spurs in my heel and to relieve it by putting soft insoles in my shoes. I wear trainers mostly n o w, I’ve ditched the heels, only wear them if I have to, and I haven’t had that pain for a couple of years now.
