I had a knee replacement last year having had pain and limited mobility for a long while. Diagnosed with mild arthritis both hips and spondylitis at L4/5. Had shoulder pain for years especially at night but worsened lately, affecting forward upper movements and now have really bad ankle pain. Feel a bit like a hypochondriac!! Reluctant to go to doctors again and just wondering if anyone else felt like things seem to come all at once and whether it's likely to be arthritis shoulder and ankle?
You wonβt know unless you do go to the doctor! Why put up with the uncertainty? Doctors are there to advise/help. With only those two things wrong with you I doubt very much that anyone will think of you as a hypochondriac (most of us on this thread would be classed as mega hypochondriacs I fear as they have, PMR, OA, OP, Bursitis, high blood pressure, etc etc)π
I do think once one thing starts it sets others off (especially OA and RA).
Make an appointment with the doctor!π. ππ
Definitely true that OA in one joint does 'set off' a chain reaction - my OA in one ankle was as a result of a major accident but then I developed it in both thumbs, upper neck and now one knee. The consultant said that once cartilage is inflamed, the inflammation does spread unfortunately. Definitely speak to the doctor as there are a multitude of treatments available. I started to experience horrible pain in shoulders and upper arms and just assumed it was more arthritis and I'd have to get on with it. It turned out to be ruptured bicep tendons and nothing to do with the OA. I've had a couple of arthroscopy surgeries on my ankle which significantly reduces the pain, theyre done by keyhole surgery with an epidural so very little recovery time and really helped me.
Ha, ha, you're right of course. Thanks I will π
Thank you Loxie, that's interesting. Trip to get it investigated me thinks π
