I had my colon removed 8 days ago and feel like I have made no progress towards going home. I am on my second round with the NG tube for suction. Everyone tells me it's normal, but what where signs that you were on your way home. My stoma gurgles, nothing definitely gas. Any clues for me?
I am sorry to hear that u r undergoing some difficulty following ur op. I don't no if u have had it laprascopically or not. I no from having read different sites as I too am to have ileostomy within next few months that ur small bowel can do this....everybody is different. Have u been eating much at all or fluids only from surgery. Apparently when there are bowel sounds u r allowed to have soft types food stuffs . But again ur small bowel may be totally p*ssed off with the surgery and decide it's going to misbehave for a while. I hope it resolves itself shortly for urself as there is nothing as bad to feel bad and also to be still in hospital when u had probably mentally assumed u would been home by now. MJ
Hi Aaron,
When I had mine removed 6 weeks ago I had the same thing, my bag worked fine for a day then everything stopped, it was like that for days. I had to go back on the drips and cathetar again. I was really worried. Then after a few days it all started working again and I was fine. My bag started working on Saturday, I was on observation till Monday, then went home.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Hi Chris....how are things this week . Any hiccups with the ileostomy or learning curves. Or is all running fairly smoothly. I'm still waiting. I actually foned hospital Thursday past as I was week to 2 weeks past when they said they would see me. I gathered that letter had been done to stoma nurse ( who I think is arranging date with herself the consultant and myself to discuss the surgery etc )but the secretary had forgotten to forward letter to her re my details lol so hopefully this week I should hear something ...not that I'm mad looking surgery but I have to have it done so suppose quicker it's done sooner it's all behind me. MJ
Thank you
