Atrail flutter?

Im totally freaked and have been searching online looking for some relief. Ive been having racing heart and palpitations for a couple days, which I know was caused by binge drinking, which Ive stopped now. but Im looking it up and they all point to afib or atrial flutter.... which can lead to stroke. I am at a lose for words and don't know what to do. I went to the er and the ekg was normal but of course I didn't have an episode when I was there and I can't tell the difference between a harmless racing heart, to a dangerous one!! please help

I’m no doctor, but i would expect if you had a serious condition, with the number of times you’ve been to the ER and had ekgs, you’d have had an ‘episode’ picked up by now. As you have anxiety, the fact its not showing up on the ekg when you’re in the ER (a place you consider a safe space) means when you feel distracted it goes away, and just enforces that its your health anxiety to blame here.

You’ve said it yourself, alcohol causes palpitations. You’re aware that binge drinking is bad for you, so you need to consider getting some help for that. Could this lead to serious conditions down the line? Yes maybe, that’s life. We can’t control the future but you can take steps to live your best life. Quitting drinking is step one. Stopping looking online for ‘relief’ is step two (think about it, when has reading symptoms and illness EVER brought you relief). Go to your doctor (local not ER) and ask what other treatment options are available for you.

if you were binge drinking, its probly just your body recovering! so lay off the booze and let our emergency workers deal with emergencies!

It could very well be that you are dehydrating your body. When you binge drink it depletes the water and vital vitamins from your body which causes your heart to work harder to supply your body. which is why your heart is doing this. Don’t drink so heavy. Drink plenty of water.

thank you caz19600! I definitely need to hear that and talk to someone who can shed some light and state facts and bring me to reality!

thank you for your reply. yes I agree but very hard to do so, when your heart feels like its about to jump out of your chest. It’ll be that 1 time I DON’T go, and I should have. But there goes that vicious cycle of “what if”

yes i know i use to do the same thing just keep drinking more and more trying to cover up the panic and anxiety until i landed myself in the emergency about to die from dehydration because I was binge drinking and not eating or drinking water.

if its very hard to do so “lay off the booze” than you need to go to some form of rehab! its not ok you are wasting resources from other people because your binge drinking yourself into palpitations! get some help
