Atrial Fibrillation / TIA

I have recently been in hospital and diagnosed with the above. I have been prescribed Warfarin and am quite nervous about how this will affect my life now. Has anyone else recently been suffering

from the same and how do you feel? Did it take long to get the dose of Warfarin right, I only just

started it last Friday eve and take 5 mg at the mo, have another check tomorrow.

I am also very overweight and I understand that I shouldn't make any drastic changes to my diet without discussing it first with the clinic, any advice or help from anyone would be gratefully received.

This seems not to be a good site for getting feedback from other sufferers.

I was DX'd in Oct 2012. It's not too bad really, the warfarin dose can take a month or two to stabilise, Mine

was all over the place! Avoid cranberry and grapefruit juice too. I sometimes have cranberry sauce (esp. this time of year!) and it's not killed me. Go easy on the booze. It dilutes the blood like warfarin. If you want to

lose weight do it very very slowly so the warfarin dose can be adjusted as you go. I need to lose some too

but it shouldn't be used as an excuse not to get weight off! Far healthier to be a normal weight.

You get used to taking these rotten pills and they become part of your day. If the alternative is a stroke, I

know what I'd rather do!

I am new to this forum my first post, I have had AF for about 3 years now when it started I was really scared my heart was racing !
