Hi Melissa , please dont worry hun , had an ablation 5 years ago that was my firstone whih worked untl the begining of this year , I had another ablation on 15th sept this year , but sadly it looks like this one for me hasnt worked. I am having lots of missed beats that are making me feel pretty rubbish at the moment ,
But please just because the first one didn t work dont panic , it may just need that little bit more to stop it. My consultant told me ages ago that most people have to have a 2nd ablation to clear it , Me well I hope they can do it again for me and maybe then I will be free from this . Keep positive x
Hi Melissa I am having an ablation in new year. What you describe is normal and I read that it has a 70% success rate and sometimes requires repeated attempts to get it right. Avoid alcohol as this can cause Atrial Fibrillation to return (are you being treated for AFib?) Good luck.
Hi Melissa, I live in the US in Charlotte, NC. I also suffer from afib but right now it is being controlled by flecanide. My cardiologist said that more than likely my body will get used to the medication and I will start having afib on a regular basis again. He is a very well known surgeon when it comes to performing ablations. There is a new form of ablation where they freeze the nerves vs burning them. He has been performing that procedure for over a year now. He states that it takes less time and is more accurate. The old ablation has a 50% success rate after five years. Unfortunately this new form af ablation hasn't been around long enough to know what the stats will be. You might want to check and see if anyone is performing that procedure in your area.
