Atrophic Vaginitis with Burning, Frequent Urination and Pain

What are some of the natural products you are using to treat the burning, frequent urination and terrible pain during intercourse.  I was working with a dr. who wanted me to bring my low vit D up before I used any creams and it got high enough so she started me on Estrace cream and I have all the symptoms I had before after starting the cream, burning, constant urination. I stopped the Estrace over a week ago and my symptoms have not subsided.  This is terrible. I have not had intercourse in 6 months trying to fix this problem.  I've been to so many doctors too.  This dr. has now prescribed a bioidentical estradiol capsule. This is just a terrible way to exist every day,  Is there anything else you all can recommend that helped you get rid of this severe problem and lead a  normal life?  Thanks.

Sorry to hear of you problem. I use coconut oil it's helped and baking soda (in the bath).

Keep us posted 😊

I use premarin cream 2 x week. No soap in area, only water. No fabric softener. Took time but I'm so much better. Showers only.

Sorry to say after years of trying everything nothing worked. I had 3 treatments of Mona Lisa and life is better

Jazzy girl how long have you had this and has it been diagnosed as atrophic vaginitis? I ask because all those symptoms are similar to mine.

Try using d mannoose from Amazon for the burning I was given estriol cream for months and it did nothing except make me uncomfy and swollen .

I just tried coconut oil last night.

I will look into this if nothing else works

I've had the painful intercouse for a long time but the buning and frequent urination since about last September.  It's terrible.  I feel like I have to go to the bathroom all the time. It got better and now, right after I started the Estrace cream for 5 days all this started up again.  I'm in a nightmare as this is not my only issue I have.

Hi jazzy do try d mannoose they are in powder and tablet form from Amazon. It stops the burning. I also use dandelion and cornsilk tincture which costs the bladder so it stops making you want to wee all the time

I heard about inserting Natural Vit E gel capsules each night..and am trying that now before resorting to the Etrace my doc prescribed. It's very simple and you dont puncture them but they open up at night and will discreet the Vit E. I'm holding out on Etrace and trying this first.

It seems like at least its natural and without possible issues.

I hear about the Mona Lisa...does anyone know how or why this works so well?

What is it?

A laser surgery?

Is it like a peel from laser but on the inside? ouch.

Thanks. What do you mean "costs the bladder?" Where do you get the tincture

Mona Lisa is a laser done in three treatments revitalizes the tissue inside and out. Done in a doctors office. Pretty painless.

Sorry coats the bladder. I use that and d mannoose

The d mannose is for UTI - I don't have a UTI

Hi. I went on Vagifem for a few months which plumpede everything up. Now I just use Balance activ menopause pessaries every few day which are natural and lubricate internally. I also use Yes oil based lubricant both inside and out. I also bought a dilator to stretch the vagina which took a few months but worked and also used a stretching method I found on the internet. If you google how to stretch your vagina you can get some advice from a medical site. I would suggest the balnce activ as a natural remedy as it works for me.

Estrace is supposed to start working within 2 weeks, but it took me 6 months! My Dr told me to try 3x a week, and I think that finally made the difference (about 1 1/2 gr). Also put a little of the Estrace on the urethra and outside vulva. Not unusual for it to burn in the beginning because the tissue is so irritated. I am also in the middle of the Mona Lisa treatment and it is a miracle!!!

I ahve done two out of the three Mona Lisa treatments. I had only a slight irritation after the first treatment. The second was painless. My tissues are so good, according to a nurse practioner, that it is almost a miracle. Google Mona Lisa Touch Laser and go to their home page. You will get all the info you need.

Hi Jean--this is extremely helpful..thank you so much. Everyone who mentions the Mona Lisa laser seems to have great results. I will look into this!

Hi. My reply was deleted by the moderator. I think it was because I mentioned a brand. Bit annoyed because it took me a long time to type – I wish the moderator would just delete what they don't like and post it. I wanted to let you know what natural things I use and that have helped me. Anyway, trying again:-

I apply: organic raw cold pressed coconut oil internally and externally after every time I go to the loo (many of us have found coconut oil to be beneficial); apply yes oil based lube externally to reduce friction when out and about because it lasts longer and stays better than coconut oil; insert a coconut oil + vit e pessary every night before I go to bed; apply vit e oil internally and externally once a day (squeezed from a 200iu oral capsule. Some women use 400iu). I also massage the skin posterior to the vaginal opening with oil to keep it elastic and supple. None of the water based vaginal moisturisers or those containing hyaluronic acid work for me – they either sting or make me swell up.

Orally, I take: DIM (diindolymethane) and agnus Castus to balance hormone levels; pueraria mirifica (100mg once a day) which has been shown to have bioactivity similar to oestrogen on the vaginal tissues, improving the condition and natural moisturisation; sea buckthorn oil which has been shown by very good research to improve the condition of the vaginal wall cells (if you take 3g a day – I take 2 x 500mg capsules three times a day after meals).

It is also important to continue sexual activity to keep your natural lube levels up and increase blood flow to the area.

I had vulvodynia three years ago (in 2013) which made penetration impossible. Once I recovered after about 1.5 years, I then began to get vaginal dryness due to menopause. The vulvodynia left me unable tolerate any products in the vaginal area other than natural oils. So, by trial and error I found out what worked for me and very gradually stretched myself  (I used my own fingers at first, then vaginal dilators, then my hubby, then we gradually increased sexual activity until this year we are up to at least twice a week and it feels normal.

I hope this helps. Any questions, do ask.

Hi Suki- extremely helpful!

Did you find a homeopathic doctor who is guiding you/ advising you on the vitamins DIM (diindolymethane) and agnus Castus, pueraria mirifica (100mg once a day) and the sea buckthorn oil ?

I ask because if so, then it means likeminded ones are out there --and I will seek one out too. Also, are all the above items you use found in health food stores I'm guessing? I went into a Whole Foods here and couldn't find the sea buckthorn, but will look more now that I see how well its doing. Did your doctor also want you to go on an Estrace type cream each day like mine? I want to be sure we have the same issue : atrophy.

Thanks so much for the very helpful reply here.
